I had a hell of a time getting to sleep last night, not uncommon for me, had a cuppa milk & two wanks to tire me out alas was still tossing and turning till the wee hours of the morning an it got me thinking about lil habits an rituals of others. do you all have a winding down routine? anything that gets you off without fail? (No pun intended) lol

My boudoir - S Wales

I used to watch the snooker on bbc2 early hours if I couldn’t sleep. The clacking of the balls was really soothing

I tend to read the news for a bit, then play solitaire for a while before turning off the tablet so it can’t disturb me through the night ……. I usually get a good hour or two sleep

My routine is to get undressed, get in to bed, put head on pillow and in about 2 minutes I'm sound asleep. Unfortunately my problem is staying asleep and I'm normally wide awake before 4am

We find full moon is a time of the month when we generally can't settle so we just plan less to do the mornings after a few days either side and sleep later and get up later when we can.

I also find the best way to fall asleep is to watch the F1 racing! So bloody boring these days and I used to enjoy it and go Silverstone every year.

Hello OP. Your name and post are funny match.

I struggle to sleep most nights. But what sends me to sleep guaranteed is listening to a book on audible. I download books specifically to send me to sleep. If you don’t have audible, try ASMR or talking videos on YouTube. People just doing long interviews etc. but not people you like or that’ll keep you up. One time I listened to a book and I ended up getting really into it. Took me longer than normal to fall asleep.

Might sound weird, but I had sleep problems for years and the "4 7 8 breathing" technique really helped me. Quite powerful, once you get into it.

Nice, I don't have audible but I sometimes listen to bedtime stories on my alexa this helps me to conk out on occasion, or I'll end up scrolling through tick-tock until the wee hours, get stuck on a certain vid then go to google to fall down a rabbit hole researching the subject at hand then wonder why I can't sleep lol

Is playing solitaire a euphemism for the two wanks mentioned by the OP?

I'm a rubbish sleeper. I never sleep for more than 3 or 4 hours at a time often wake up several times a might.

Sometimes I use the sleep meditations to help me drift off.

abruzzo Italy (and UK)

If I’m really struggling and there are to many thoughts going round my head then slowly counting backwards from 500 in my head usually works eventually, if other thoughts start creeping in just push them aside and keep counting, if you get lots of mental images invading your thoughts then picture a big number board for the numbers slowly ticking down

TikTok is terrible before bed! I would not recommend. The less screen time the better for your sleep hygiene

I lay in bed on my phone until I fall asleep. Probably not the best winding down routine to be honest.

No wind down routine, my pet cat tells me to go to bed. If working next day I am in bed by 10pm.

Sometimes I cannot sleep. Worry too much, brain working over time. Hot chocolate..

Ear pods

Night music.. Helps me to relax and be calm within and eventually nod off.

Plus being single if I am tossing (no pun intended) and turning I at least don't knock anyone out of bed.

Try burning incense sticks they help me stay calm or a diffuser.

I also find music, searching on you tube been great for to relax.

The mere mention of TikTok normally causes me to roll my eyes at any time of day or night.

Couple doobies and I’m down with even a dream. Considering my dreams are Feckin horrific at times it’s my way of coping and getting a full nights sleep
