When people talk about they're a 'girl next door' type - what does that mean?

Bonus Q (as I always ask) - what do you prefer, innocent looking people, cute...or the ones who look like TROUBLE, heavy make up etc...

.

I think it means... not lots of make up. Kind of cutesy. Approachable, the sort of girl you'd see out and about but doesn't "scream" sex. It's hard to explain.

I get told I have that vibe. I don't quite see it as a compliment though.

I think it says plain ordinary inconspicuous. Actually when you say it like that it doesn’t sound so good.

I think in terms of personality it may be reference to them not being premadonna drama lamas but down to earth ‘normal’ (fill in your own definition of this) everyday person who isn’t up their own arse.

In terms of preference, some women go well with the war paint look, others not so, it’s a case by case appraisal.

I think it means the type you could introduce to your mum, knows how to cook, will remain faithful but won't mind you fucking around and wants sex all the time. Oh, and lives next door

Carlisle usually

Cute, sweet, innocent, those sort of things I think. Someone you could introduce to an uptight middle class mother.

For me, the people I'm drawn to vary wildly. Sometimes it's a tiny angry dykey look. Sometimes it's another 6 ft gothic amazon. Sometimes it's just something so irrelevant to their looks that I don't even register the aesthetic.

Girl next door = Inconspicuous. Studious. Well turned out. Well mannered. Does everything right. You'd never in a million years think she thought of sex. Sort of the traditional image of a housewifey type. Old fashioned , undemanding etc etc

Repeating what others have said. Attractive but not sexy. Easy going, not high maintenance. Friendly and approachable. Your parents would like her.

This describes perfectly the girl who sits at the next desk to me at work. No make up, looks sweet and innocent, wickedly filthy sense of humour.

This thread has earwormed me with one of my favourite songs.

Girl Next Door - Brandy Clark.

“If you want the girl next door, then *go* next door.”

Brandy Clark’s lyrics just drip with sass …

Id say my mrs is a girl next door type. She does not need makeup and wears very little even when we go out for the evening. I think the saying "girl next door" means naturally pretty and not requiring tons of make up to look nice ect. John.

Means quite the opposite. Girls who look naturally pretty without makeup are the girl next door type. Does not mean a plain Jane type. John
