Has anyone ever had to go to one?

Following on from my post last week, the police arrested a suspect on Friday, and now they want me to see if I can spot the bad man in an ID line up!!

Yes I have, and it is nerve wracking but they can't see or hear you at all.

Glad to hear that someone was caught.

They don't do them like Dixon on Dock Green anymore. I had to do one about 6 years ago when I had my takings robbed out of my cab. Now you sit in front of a PC screen and are shown a set of head and shoulder photos and you pick one - if you can...

I did that the other day, just to see if I recognised him from about 9 pics!!

So I don't get to stand behind a screen and look at them in real life?

I was once the suspect in a police line up for a crime I did not committ. I was 16 and shitting myself, they had 3 witnesses that had given descriptions that loosely matched me. Upon arriving to the line up they had clearly just plucked any old Joe off the street because none of them looked anything like. Looking back it was quite comical one guy had long hair and a goatee, another was about 40, just to be politically correct they had a Chinese and a black bloke there. I felt really stitched up. As it happens all 3 witnesses picked different guys and none of them were me, so I was sent on my way. I was shitting bricks

I am hoping that they are wearing beanie hats, as the naughty man was wearing one, may make it easier to spot him!!

Maybe it depends on the police force? Certainly in Kent they've been doing them by photo for nearly ten years.

Correct! But notice also the head & shoulders are quasi-cartoons. I saw my attackers face-to-face and even knew their names BUT I could not identify them on this twatish machine. All part of our dear leaders' policy of promoting & endorsing lawlessness.
