I swear most of the profiles I look at these days have got that ridiculous waffle written on them. Quite often that paragraph is more than what the profile actually says about the person!

How did it even start? And what's Sydney University got to do with it anyway?

It's all a conspiracy started by banana benders. They're the real perverts. It even says so on my profile, and as we all know, no one lies on the internet.

No I haven’t noticed an increase however I’ve noticed that is usually women or couples that have it on their profile. In fairness I don’t look at male profiles so actually I can’t back that last statement up.

Haha, thank you for me introducing me to the term "banana benders". I haven't added any disclaimer to my profile but I think I'll take inspiration from you and add one.

"Banana benders sod off!" has a nice ring to it, don't you think?

It didn’t start on fab it was done way back in the early years off fb as a social experiment by the founders

To see who can think for them selfs and who blindly fallows people without doing there research and what not

Some how it got carried over to other platforms and changed thought out the years ie the name

It got carried over to here

It's just a running gag, I think and hope. People just copy it thinking it will stop someone from downloading their pics and show them to their friends.

It's just braindead.

From my experience, it seems to have gone down these days. There was a time when every other profile I saw had that.

The most frustrating ones are the profiles with nothing else except this. They had time to copy paste this nonsense, but no time to write at least one line about themselves?

Basically the premise behind it was to introduce something form a sed “powerful” person ie someone that worked at FB or went to harved with the founders and so on

And then watch as it spread though social circles

Ie Mike worked at fb posted it

Jim went to harvord with him see it he posted it

Stephen is date jim she seen it posted it

Stephen friend Jennie seen it she posted it

Jennie boyfriend James seen it looked in to it didn’t post it

Jennie then removed it

Jim stephen and Jennie are all sheep

James is a Woolf who can think for himself a leader

If its not Sydney University it's the other idiotic one that mentions some American law code - utter nonsense and even if it was legal and enforceable it wouldn't apply here

I've managed to avoid that. There's some intercollegiate rivalry there plus an in joke (my tongue is, of course, firmly in cheek. All four of the institutions I name are highly regarded, and three of them are in the highest calibre of Australian universities)

I think it was originally Facebook. Some people just forgot to change it to fab. I don't think fab is even a publicly traded entity

A quick search of companies house shows the owners as the sole shareholders, maybe fab should use the banner at the top to state it is not publicly traded, save a lot of server space.

Indeed. I was prompted to look for this thread by some fabber's nonsense that said "this app is now a publicly traded entity", obviously swallowed by somebody who has not the faintest what any of that means. Maybe somebody in development has a vested interest in selling server space.
