To drink: Graham’s Gold Top Jersey, Unhomogenised
To pour on: Local milkman delivery, full cream
I must admit, I don’t actually know how much each item is individually. They’re part of a total bill and I haven’t checked the prices.

That's the good stuff, I think it's about 1.30 a litre. A little different but the closest you get to raw milk. |

I love how it’s bunged up with cream at the top when I open it each time and the chunks ‘plop’ into the glass when I pour it out.
Tones looks on in horror when I drink it. |

"I get 32.8 pence per litre to produce it. I have the animal 30 months before she produces milk.
The processors have the milk for a day. Work out the difference "
That’s really interesting. I was wondering what farmers get for it. It’s why I order from the local milkman, to give some support. I don’t know if it helps at all or is just a means of easing my ‘fairtrade’ conscience. Unfortunately, no one produces gold top round my parts.
If you don’t mind my asking, how much does it cost to produce a pint/litre?

Farmers are being paid between 32.and 38p per litre, depending on who their buyer is at the cost of production, which the supermarkets know, is between 41 and 43 p per litre, last year 30 farmers were making a profit now they’re not |

I get the long life semi skimmed now in boxes of 6x 1l and works out just under £1 per litre. I got used to it and now prefer it and don't worry about running out of fresh milk but I know not everyone likes long life. |

Is it better to buy from the milkman? Makes no difference to me, unfortunately, because lactose free milk doesn't come in glass bottles, they might deliver the Lactofree cartons but at twice the price of the supermarket. Does the producer get more from the cost of those cartons than if I buy at Sainsbury's? I can't drink unprocessed milk, unfortunately. I didn't win that genetic lottery. |

Get it delivered , and in the 3 years hence its gone up a bit... 85p to 1.03
This is per pint .
Do the mind paying for the extra convenience of door to door ...it just shows the market forces at play |

That works and tastes better than it used it... it's what I do now and works out just over 80p with nectar price. |
