Is 85 today.
Did you read it when you were younger (or even as an adult) ?
I did occasionally when I could find a copy lying around. My parents wouldn't entertain having The Beano or The Dandy in the house |

I used to love the Beano as a kiddie, still have loads of old issues somewhere in the loft!
It was a very different beast then!
Dennis the Menace was a proper brat, arch enemies were the “softies” and Dad used to give him a slippering if he misbehaved! How times have changed.
I hope it goes on for another 85 years and it’s not on borrowed time, it’s the last remaining ‘traditional’ comic of my youth!
Happy 85th birthday!

"Dennis owns naughty Gnasher
Dennis Is Never Good "
These days, you'd have to question the wisdom of having a generation of small boys walking around saying "ding dong" to each other.

;-) I’m just surprised I can remember that 40 years later! |

I got into both beano and dandy as a kid because my mother had annuals from the late 60s and early 70s. I have a few 90s beano ones and I also have (somewhere) the first all colour beano comic with the glow in the dark gnashers teeth sticker still attached.
85, wow.

I was an avid dandy and beano reader, the menaces cousin Minnie the minx was my fave only because she was like the rough girl in the next street who used to regularly collar me and nick half of my lucky bag. |

Loved both The Beano and The Dandy! Found some old annuals and my own kids love them

Yes I read the Beano and I was in the Dennis the menace and Gnasher fan club. You got two badges, the Gnasher one was all furry with teeth . Also a pamphlet with the club 'code'.
I got kicked out Sunday school because they said we had to bring our bibles in and I told them that was my bike. I believe I was referred to as a devil child
One of my fondest childhood memories. |
