Not always! But yes.
Honestly trying to give a genuine compliment these days is a minefield. You never know if they will like it, or if it will feel fake.
I was talking to a friend earlier and she looked gorgeous as always, I held back from saying gorgeous. I meant it but it felt as if it would be just another bullshit compliment men give.
So I was going to say lovely, pretty, beautiful... Etc and they felt like they were just being polite.
In the end I just say she looked awesome. |

"Is being told you have a cute face someones way of being polite instead of saying not for me thanks or are people attracted to a cute mug lol "
What a topic for me!
I've been called this so much! From what I gather, northerners seem to use it more like, hot. Southerners it is abit like...yeah you're good looking but not for me. That's what I've got from it anyway but everyone has different views.
If they say I'm cute and then carry on sexually it's a good sign. If they then ghost, it's not |

Ah just say it! That's my personality all over. If a woman's looking hot I will say she is (if I know her to some degree...actually one or two strangers too) |

I'm with you Kaitonel, I've come a cropper with a misconstrued and mis taken compliment. Cute for me is one that should is defo a compliment with endearment behind it and not just a lust filled comment. |

Aww thats a great compliment!
Puppies and kittens are 'cute' maybe little kids too. But adults? Especially at my age!! And to be given to a man? Nah far better words to use!
As a side note I love it when I have my profile pics hidden and still get messages giving me compliments about my looks!!! |

Generally I do. But over using compliments dulls their effect and they just become words, meaningless to the person, or if you thrown it around at everyone all the time it's meaningless.
It can have a vibe of boy that called wolf eventually. Blowing smoke up someone's arse just isn't for me. Unless that is their kink, and I'll give it a try. |

Maybe it's just you being cute! (I didn't mean it! Well I did but not really!)
Maybe it's just you being awesome...
Phew! Saved it. |

Cute is safe. I think that's what it is, it's not bad. It's just safe.
Its not trying to be over familiar. Trying to be respectful etc without trying to turn it in to some kind of objectification compliment that may "offend" somebody.
Whom, when, and why you give compliments will different greatly. As will receiving them.
It is that fine line between genuine and smoke blowing simping, it's dangerous territory that can go either way. |

I know some people don’t see being called cute as a positive, but I use it in lots of ways, anything from fluffy bunnies, to attractive in a really wholesome pretty way, to drop dead, very fuckable gorgeous, it’s certainly very much in how I say it, but of course that doesn’t work well in text |

Cute is nice it's definitely a compliment. It can be a slightly ambiguous one though, hot isn't taken any other way than how it's meant same for sexy etc.
I tend to take compliments from people here with a pinch of salt unless I know them well.
From friends I'm always genuinely ecstatic by them. |

Occasionally I get called cute. Perhaps that's just their myopic interpretation of me. I prefer "cute" because anything more can come across as overbearing.
I don't think I've ever called a woman "beautiful" when she's sent a photograph. I'm not very good with dishing out sycophantic 'faux flattery'. Instead I resort to words that are less ingratiating but more sincere. |

But photos can be beautiful as can the people in them, saying it’s beautiful doesn’t need to be sycophantic or faux, or insincere |

I've never thought of cute to be anything other than complimentary, it's surprising to me how many here think of it differently. I'm wondering if there's a generational and regional difference to how cute is used? |
