The first trailer for the new upcoming Exorcist movie came out yesterday and it looks like it's a direct sequel to the 1973 movie rather than a remake as some people feared. From what I saw, it looks interesting and might check it out sometime.

Whoelse has seen the trailer and what did you think?

The movie will be out on October 13th. I won't say what happens in the trailer as it's better to see it for yourself.

Looks okay but the thing up to date horror films dont have at the same level as the original was the amount of shock value. I'm old enough to have seen the first one when it came out in the cinema. I'd seen nothing like it before and was terrified by it. Even the swearing in it wasnt something I'd heard in films lol so yeah I still remember how would up we were on the bus home and how long it took to fall asleep

I'm sure The Exorcist was pretty terrifying when you saw it and it still holds well on being one of the scariest movies of all time.

The problem with modern horror movies today is that it seems the ones involving demons try too hard to be the next Exorcist but the makers of these films don't seem to understand that their movies will never top The Exorcist, no matter how scary they try to make them. There is also the fact that modern horror movies have zero plot, badly written characters and rely too much on pointless, predictable jump scares every 5 mins.

Pretty much yes. Prior to the original one my horror experience was hammer house of horror films . Exorcist was the first of its type so as I said, the shock made it. That Japanese one, the grudge was it? That was pretty scary too .

I'm not keen on the blood n guts 'horrors' they bore me and are too predictable. I like the ones that have me squealing in fright lol

I'm easily scared and my screaming would affect a lot of people in the cinema. Not seen the first and probably will miss this one, unless it's an incredible film.

I wasn’t that impressed. The first one really scared me, but maybe that’s because I was about 12 years old!

This movie is 15 not 18, they toned it down , her head didn’t spin round, she didn’t vomit green stuff or say your mother sucks cocks in hell in a funny voice - 3/10

The very start gave me a fright. The build up wasnt too bad but the exorcision was predictable. I did get a little tear at the end though.

Mind you, all of the above is easy to say when watching it in daylight

I personally think that if this movie had a better script with more fleshed out characters and didn't rely on nostalgia bait and cheap jump scares, it could have worked.
