Don’t take this the wrong way but hell you get knocked off your bike a lot. Must be at least the 4th plus time you have popped it up here. Is it actually safe to cycle in Liverpool??

its worse than a motorway sometimes, I go by the laws of the road though, never run red lights, never cycle between cars just to get ahead.... yet the road does like to claim a victim now and again. wish it would pick some one else now though

Thats probably because it has so many bends etc ( depending on which end you drive down) so it is even harder for a bike than it would be if you were on a motorway !

You should really start getting the bus !

lol

It is more or less a motorway with three lanes going through a big city, only you can't always see miles ahead of you and go round a bend to find a Mally right in front of you and no where for you to go other than share his saddle !

Oh dear, glad to hear you are recovering well!

I don't ride on the road as I am too scared to be hit.

Besides, I only ride a couple of miles to give a pooch a little run, and only in the warmer nicer months!

S'why i prefer to mountain bike, i might bounce off rocks and (as today) slide down a rocky trail on my arse thanks to ice but there aren't psychotic drivers trying to kill me!

Mind you, the last driver that attempted that got the wing mirror of his C220 Merc punched off....

Mally - how about getting one of those helmet-mounted cameras & filming your daily commute?

At least you'll have evidence.

Also, do you ride defensively and take up your rightful space in the road? Make sure cars can only pass you when YOU think it's safe, not when the dumb fucks can see half a gap...

thats a good idea with the camera, will deffo look in to that, I do cycle defensively, but also sensibly, i dont take unnecessary risks like most cyclist seem to, I like to arrive alive as they say, although that didn't help me yesterday morning

Aye, i see too many PoB's (pedestrians on bikes) riding like cretins, cutting up the inside of wagons, ignoring road rules etc.

Then again, i see & experience WAY too many drivers trying to push me off the road.

The classic - and most lethal - manoevre is the old 'overtake and immediately turn left' trick. It's illegal, it's expressedly denounced in the Highway Code yet most drivers seem to be guilty of it at some point.

You wouldn't try it with a car doing 20mph would you, so why do it to me?

Highway Code rule (i.e. a legal requirement) 163 :- You MUST give vulnerable road users at least as much space as you would give a car.

That's why cyclists get upset when dickhead drivers force their way past with an inch to spare...

yeap, I've had that done to me loads of time, I actually stopped a women and asked her if she knew where I was going, her reply was "what you on about" I told her that she forced me to turn left with her even though i was going straight ahead, she told me to piss off, I broke off her wing mirror.

I know us cyclist are hated by motorist and its down to the idiots out there who think they're invincible on 2 wheels, I respect the road and other users, why can't everybody else?

I've been guilty of road rage a few times when motorists have tried to drive over me to gain a few precious metres of road space.

Once, when knocked off and my bike driven over i headbutted the old fool through his newly-opened window. Taken pics of reg plates and reported others, still got one case of vehicular assault going through at the moment.

I'm tempted to carry a bottle of brake fluid on the bike and spray cars that try to kill me - will have an 'interesting' new paintjob the next morning...
