I was at my Dad's, intending to watch Sunday morning telly or something but all the airwaves were devoted to the news. Yes, there were far fewer channels then, Steven! |

My dad died the same day when I was 15. I was on a train and the station manager took me aside when I arrived to tell me in a waiting room bc my dad was meant to collect me.
It was very unexpected and I had to hang around for another family member to pick me up. I heard about Diana on a tannoy there.
Needless to say it didn't really have much of an impact. In fact the hysteria surrounding it was a bit galling from people who never met her, which incidentally I had done a few years before when she was on a hospital publicity visit. |

I was on a night shift and someone said they had heard it on the radio, we didn't take her seriously at the time as we were busy and it seemed too incredulous. We saw it on the news when people started putting their televisions when they woke in the morning. |

In bed recovering after a night of serious techno club excess. One of my clubbing buddies had stopped over and came back to my room with a brew and told me, but I was more interested in a spliff and toast after my evening exertion (I’m more annoyed i was too fucked to try my luck with her in the only window where she was single and in my fecking bed all night- what a numptie!!!  ) |

I was sleeping in my bed. I remember going into the living room because I could hear my mum sobbing and when I looked she had the telly on with all the news coverage. |

In paris. Not far from where it happened. British went crazy for it. The parisians... Not so much.
That doesn't shock me at all. High profile person in country X that you have little connection to dies. So what? I'm sure we feel the same when a royal from any other country dies."

I was in bed having been to a party the night before.I heard it on the tv as it was on downstairs.I remember feeling very shocked.Turned out it was the very same day someone else I knew died on.I found that out 6 weeks later. |

Funny how certain things stick id been out and was at home when I heard my mum shouting at my dad to come in it woke me up so I staggered down to see them both stuck watching the TV. |
