Best Alton Towers Dark Ride

Which is definitely the best dark ride of Alton Towers? The Curse at Alton Manor or Hex: The Legend of the Towers?

It's interesting how that both rides are similar in terms of the stories as both involve curses and have pretty spooky atmosphere but the difference is not only are they completely different rides but one is actually based on a legend.

For me, it has to be Hex. Not only is it a favourite of mine but it also has plenty of suspense and atmosphere.

I’ve only been on Hex. The other one was closed when we were last there. I prefer rollercoasters though.

Nemesis sub terra

Both kids cried and I couldn’t stop laughing at their terror

They begged to go on it as well and none of us knew what to expect

Yes I know, I’m a bad human

It’s not really a maze, no.

There’s live actors, you get in a dodgy lift which takes you to a science lab and it all goes horribly wrong after that

Ah yeah. We’ve done that one. I’m getting it confused with the Saw one in Thorpe Park.

by the big field

The black hole (now long gone)

It was pretty much the same as their other ride, The Beast, but pitch black.

Rode it several times, including one day we spent there on acid…that’s a whole weird world.

Ace ride though

I'm the same. Sadly Hex was closed when we went last year. It did reopen at some point later in the year but now, it's remained closed. I heard it was down to being badly repaired with 3rd party ride parts which only made the fix temporary for the ride. Hopefully, it will get fixed properly for next year's season.

Wicker Man, in the dark, with the flames is pretty cool. Ridden it at Halloween in the dark!

I love hex but it's always bloody shut. The curse is OK. I liked nemesis sub terra too.

The best is scarefest though I go every year

I'm gonna have to try that Nemesis Sub-Terra when I go to Alton Towers next year. Yeah, it is a shame Hex is still shut. Hopefully, it will be open next year when it is properly fixed.

Best dark ride in the UK BY FAR is Valhalla at Blackpool.
