Good suction recommendations
Jump to: Newest in thread
My blooming vacuum cleaner packed up yesterday. Trying to decide on a new one but it's an impossible task with so many variables, even within the same range. I don't want one that costs several hundred pounds but needs to have excellent suction and be relatively light. Any recs welcome. |

We have a Vax pet hair one (though no pets). Inexpensive as vacuums go, but very good and reliable. We actually have two - one was our son's from his flat and one ours. Both 4-5yrs old and no problems. I think Dysons are over priced. |

Saw the title and thought this might go elsewhere. I was about to recommend a profile SucksLikeaDyson6969
But yes similar feelings on the cheapo ones. Got one from the Range that broke within two months and now battling to get refund. |

Yes last one was a dyson but I don't think I am going for another one. As you say, pricey and the one I had which was one of the best when I got it is was not light enough fir my liking. |

We’ve tried loads as we have a house full of animals and the best we’ve had is a Shark stands upright one. The cordless ones are crap after 5 mins of use and most top brands we’ve tried give up after a year. We had a great one off Amazon a few years ago but wasn’t there when we needed a new one. This Shark one is 2 years old and still works the same as the day we got it

Thanks, yes a friend recommended them as well. I will have a closer look as there are so many different models. |

I used to test loads of household appliances (one of our big customers was Which magazine) - I'd recommend Vax as best, otherwise Dyson |

Got a shark at the moment, 2nd one Ive had and both have been very very good.
Prior to that Dyson again very good.
But best one I've had which was a bagged vacuum cleaner was an unbranded one my grandad had and brought over from Canada. It was louder than a helicopter. But was brilliant. Only got rid because I couldn't get parts for it any more |

"We've got a Vax. It was about £70, best vacuum cleaner we've ever had.
We bought my dad one when we discovered the upright he was expecting his cleaner to use had never had the bag changed. "
I assume that was a while back or refurbished? You can't get a Vax one at that price now I don't think. |

" You can't beat a Henry they never lose suction ever as long as you clean filters, Shark comes a close second though |

Will have a look though I am probably going with a shark one. I have been exploring Sebo as well as apparently are very good and very light but quite expensive which probably means I will not go one of those unless I find a cheaper refurbished one locally. |

Sounds the same as our 2 Vax cleaners. Very good machines. |
