...the jobs market, that is!

After nearly 8 years, my company has decided they no longer require my services, so I'm soon to be officially redundant.

Have to be honest, it's a bit of a weird feeling and I'm not quite sure how things will pan out from here, but I guess that's life

Now if I could just arrange a big lottery win...!!

You should write a book on it!

With the number of people it seems are facing redundancy at the moment, that could also be quite lucrative!

Sorry to hear that OP, I've had exactly the same although not as recent as yours and finding another job is proving a tad harder than expected. DWP aren't the easiest to deal with but unfortunately has to be done. Just enjoy the time to catch up with things you've always put off cos' of lack of time and good luck with the new job hunt.

Sorry to hear that OP. I have also been made redundant several times and, as someone else has observed, it does ultimately work out for the best although it won’t always feel like that at the time.

It is a numbers game and you need to just plug away but it is also an opportunity to reassess things and work out if what you were doing is what you still want to do.

Take a little time to take stock and hopefully new vistas will open up.

Thank you You too...

Tax is always complicated and it seems it's just as much the case with redundancy. The buggers always seem to grab more than expected!

Thanks

I do have a bit of time, so going to try and have a think about options. Very easy to jump right back into the same thing...so may be better to broaden the search criteria a bit.

Maybe get myself a BTEC in Formula 1...!

Being made redundant is quite traumatic for some of us but hopefully as one door closes another will open and maybe lead to better things.

We lost count if the times Mr N was made redundant. It only happened to me twice.

It can be a double edged sword. On one hand it's an ideal opportunity to reassess your life and how you want it to move forward. On the other it can throw up all sorts of feelings you didn't think it would.

I hope it works out well for you op.

As one door closes, another opens.

Think of it as a new challenge & an opportunity to gain new experiences in a different company.

This last time I onto an agency and had several interviews lined up within an hour of being told. I had a new better job with 10 days. It isn't as easy for everyone I appreciate but it's like any relationship the quicker you move on the better. Hopefully the package is pretty decent and gives you space to consider your options. Best of luck

I would suggest that if you get a job offer that requires a rapid start I would not turn it down hanging on for a redundancy package if its only going to be the statuary amount.
