I don't like lemonade so I've had lemon water and I now have 3½ lemons left.
I was thinking of making a lemon drizzle cake, but an article I read yesterday said that the skins can carry all kinds of bacteria and to not use lemon slices in my water.
What a dilemma. No cake, or e-coli |

"Cut them in half and put your elbows in them
Cut them into slices and freeze. Then add to water to add flavour and in place of ice cubes."
Will the freezing kill the e-coli?
I can't believe I've been putting bacteria in my lemon drizzle sponge cakes all these years |

Freeze it. The water in the bacteria will expand and rip the cell walls apart. All gone. Viruses would be preserved but that’s not an issue here. |

I don't know if it will or not. I reckon scrubbing them first will go some way to removing it. |

I'm thinking the article author couldn't think of anything else to add as the cons of lemon water and assumed people don't wash their fruit.

"Grab the tequila, salt and a couple of shot glasses - or at least that’s what I always do
I'd take you more for a pornstar martini gal."
I had her down as more of a Prosecco drinker but goes to show you never really know anyone |

Either way - don't think she could stand straight up liquor shots. |

I need to Google that."
Dependent on pH level.

Have you always made your lemon drizzle cake the same way? Has anyone ever been ill?
I mean I ate blackberries straight form the plant yesterday. I know it has fruit fly larvae in them. But meh I always have eaten them straight and it's not killed me yet. |

People may or may not have been ill after eating my cakes. |

"Doesn't cooking the cake (and lemon peel) at 200 degrees kill any bacteria?"
It's probably at 185, but yes it should kill the bacteria. However, to make the drizzle you take lemon juice and add sugar, then you drizzle it over the warm cake so that it soaks in. |

"Wash the lemons.
E-coli gone. "
Just this
I have been using lemons for Lemon Marmalade, Lemon Curd, Lemon Drizzle cakes and of course a slice of lemon in my G & T for more years than I can remember without any issues. |

But you are not using the skin of the lemon when you juice it so it not a problem. |
