I wanted to be an OT. Rehabilitate people with war injuries through the use of equines.
But I also wanted to do something with money.
I'm an accountant so at least one worked out.

I’ve wanted to be a couple of things. The first was a professional snooker player. The second was a cartoonist drawing my own character (like Garfield). The third and fourth things… I’m still working on. |

I wanted to be an actress, or a vet, or to travel the world. I have videos on fab, I have owned cats, and I did manage to travel a lot of the world so success I think? |

I wanted to be a lawyer then I realised I was just pissed at the world.
Then I wanted to be an astrophysicist. Work in an observatory and all that. Watch stars, chill.
Ended up doing chemical engineering - bored me senseless. |

Oh! Broadly speaking literature. It's never too late and sometimes I toy with the idea of going back to uni and doing a PhD but... I've got enough on currently. |

Vet. I had the uni offer but unfortunately not feasible because I had my son as a newborn baby when I started A levels and it wouldn't have been possible to do all the work placements with a small child, hundreds of miles from any help (not that I had much of that). I did something different instead  |

I had no idea what I wanted to when I was in school. Everything seemed so uninspiring to me so I ended up doing something uninspiring by doing something IT related because it was safe. |

A teacher, started the training changed my mind after deciding I didn't want to deal with the parents and other people. Yet my entire career has been people facing, still don't particularly like people. |

All I ever did at school was yearn for the holidays. Mostly idling on the beach or in boats. In winter and bad weather I played around with radios and read a lot. going sick, in moderation, also passed some time.
This had such a profound effect on me that I realised the only way I would still get those holidays was by becoming a teacher. In fact, when a careers officer interviewed me I thought 'Do I really have to work?'.
Luckily I ended up with all the holiday benefits (even longer when I worked in a college, until some bright spark invented holiday time courses) without any of the usual teaching aggro the poor sods get nowadays and ended up with a generous early retirement package 25 years ago.
Since then I have hated the holidays, too many kids around. |
