Following on from the other post, what are the films that you think are excellent but nobody seems to have ever heard of?

The three burials of Melquiades Estrada and London to Brighton for me. What are yours?

'Phone Booth' was excellent, a nice taut thriller.

The original Nikita should have got every Oscar going. The remake with Stallone was a travesty.

Na 7 was by far the best.

The problem I had with AC was the big battle that had super fast editing.

Oh, and that I bought a copy from Japan only to find it had no subs! It was a 'first press' as i remember.

Just looked at my Spirits within and it's got a cd card in it. Can't remember what's on it

I always thought Syriana starring George Clooney and Matt Damon was very underrated. A bit like Memento, you have to watch the film a few times to get everything in the film.

"Fight Club

Oldboy

A Prophet

Unbreakable

Cloud Atlas

Warrior

Fight Club is one (if not THE) my favourite films - one that has to be watched more than once - can remember I was about the only one in the cinema laughing at parts of it

If you have the dvd there's a Tyler warning right as you play the film. "

I know lol

It's also easier to spot the Tyler flashes throughout the film on DVD, don't spot them as easy on big screen. Think there's 5 altogether?

Love the film though. If only project may ham would happen!

Yeah there's five.

if project mayhem happened I doubt you'd be happy. It'd probably annoy you with the disruptions

"I agree with a few above..ie..dog soldiers and 50 dead man walking were great although i dont think they were that much underrated.....for me there are a few uderrated movies which seem to pass by unnoticed

Fried Green Tomatoes and Dolores Clairbourne,,,both starring Cathy Bates and the latter one being so clever"

Fried Green Tomatoes is one of my fav fims and noone has ever heard of it. I actually felt really happy to see that lol!!!

I also love True Romance and Once were Warriors.

She even shouts 'No, we're not gonna fucking do Stonehenge' whenever we drive past there on the way to friends who live near to it

Heimat - specially the first one. There are two sequels of variable quality (imho, of course)

It may look no different from others made since covering similar periods, and specially since Speilberg nicked one of the special colouration techiniques for Schindler's List (the girl in the red coat), but in 1985 when I watched it's first showing in the UK in one 16hr sitting at the NFT it was a cinematic joy.
