Is it common?
Had an interview yesterday (didn't get it).
At the time I racked my brains for answers to questions like
Give an example where there was a conflict of interest of resources when completing tasks..
I answered as best I could and after the interview thought.. should have I made up a scenario.

I’m just wondering why someone who’s 60 would need to make up a scenario where there was a conflict of resources because I’d have thought that you’d have a real life experience to tell them about after 60 years….
Also, it’s a terrible question for the interviewer to ask, what will they learn about the interviewee from asking that? They should be more interested in how the conflict was resolved |

I’ve blagged my way through my every job interview I’ve ever had. I’ve only been rejected once. I wouldn’t say that I lie but I do have a bit of fun with the truth. |

If you’ve done any kind of management you’d know what to say, if you haven’t you just could say so. It’s a bit of an odd question though tbh , I would have asked them what they mean by COI in this context , is it like a vendor creating overtime for themselves. It sounds like they may have meant a normal resources constraint not a COI, |

Never lie in interviews. I would 100% rather know where a candidate is at rather than me believe they can do it all and then not get the right support from me. Sometimes it’s not the answers to the questions, sometimes it’s about a certain fit in a team. Personality wise etc etc or management style. There’s so many factors to hiring not just interview styles.

In these situations the interviewer is looking at your ability to resolve an issue, rather than your experience, so I don't think that describing an imaginary situation is particularly a problem, or alternatively, you say 'nothing springs to mind immediately, but if say x was to happen, I would do y'. |

'Hey remember that solution you talked about in your interview? We need something similar here. Come and talk to Bob and tell him the details of how it went' |

Your right it was an admin assistant role so thought resource constrainty thing.
I said I'd prioritise resource after determining the importance and deadlines.. they looked interested and scribbled away but just thought have I answered that ok |
