Has anyone had a tribunal hearing over their benifits? If so how long did it take and was it ok?.
I got my dla and income support stopped and had to appeal.I got a letter saying the appeal would be nxt week and they need all the eveidence a week before the appeal.I wrote to them asking to postpone as my granpa has just died, I am dyslexic and need someone to write my appeal for me, and my GP is off sick just now.
They wrote to me today and said NO to my postponement.It just shows they do not care about the person just numbers.How can I go to an appeal with no appeal letter, and they want to read the letter a week before appeal, and they have no compasion at all even though my locum GP wrote and said im not in a good place right now, plus the fact I am having my bladder removed in about 3-4 weeks time.
I am gob smacked they refuse to adjurn it for a few weeks. Please dont leave negative comments as I dont need it lo..I am only stating the governments figures are more important than a person.And id any one has been to a tribunal so I know what to expect.Or if I can do anything to fight it going ahead nxt week. Thanks |

Good luck i had my esa stopped but didn't appeal have now relapsed and doctor signed me off so I have to reapply for it all. It's very frustrating I don't know what to suggest apart from asking a friend to write letters. Good luck |

What he said. The post you've written is clear, concise, well structured and written and if you're dyslexic and spell a word or 2 wrongly, big deal. |

I'm in the same boat, but been told its upto 6 months for a tribunal date. I got a friend to write out my letter.
Don't know how I go about gathering all my medical evidence, as the DWP have done it themselves in previous years, but haven't even bothered this year, yet I have given them all the information on all the consultants they need to get in touch with.
It's a very stressful time & has made my health worse.

Is your GP the ONLY person who can/check a letter for you? Don't you have any friends or family who will check it? Even writing it on a pc will give you access to a spell checker.
I suspect the benefits people know this too, hence no postponement. There really isn't any excuse for not being able to write a coherent letter these days regardless of one's ability. |

If you do as suggested and use spellcheck, then get a friend to read it to make sure it reads ok, that will help. Then start the letter by stating you are dyslexic, you hope your letter is clear but you will be able to clarify any points verbally.
You will then find you should get the opportunity to explain verbally, so you can make sure you get your points across. When I was at an employment tribunal the person taking it went through all my information and figurework with me verbally. |

Thank yuo for all the advice, maybe i didnt make it clear to some.My gp was just writing medically what my conditions are.It was another person whose full time job is writitng appeals that was doing the appeal letter for me.I have to sit and go through a 90 page report and say all i disagree with and ehy.here is one eg they wrote? ...she does not suffer from anxiety as was not rocking back and forth in her seat at the medical..
crazy eh...
Oh well im gonna start writing now.
