So, I'm old enough to remember when you wouldn't see an old halfpenny lying on the pavement without some lucky person picking it up but these days if I'm walking along and see a penny, 2p, 5p and even 10p (two bob in real money) I'd not think twice about leaving it. I might consider stopping to pick up a 20p.
So, what denomination would it have to be before you'd consider stopping to pick it up? |

Used to braze a nail on the back in the old days and hammer them into the workbench...
Superglued one to a bar top once as well
Good for a grin when you've run out of long weights.

"See a penny pick it up and all day long you'll have good luck"... Thats the saying but I prefer this version. 'See a penny pick up and all day long you'll have a penny'...
I pick up all coins and pop in em in the penny pot I have at home... pennies make pounds lol |

I pick up most coins I dont know if its true or not but Ive heard its only lucky if its heads up and if you give it to someone
Ive seen coins superglued in various places I do the kick test
I once went into a nightclub the girl I was with said theres a fiver on the floor pick it up I said you pick it up. She did and a bouncer came and tapped her on the shoulder and said I like your style look on the back, I cant recall what it said but "gotcha" springs to mind |

There's a second couplet to that rhyme (the former, not your version Akin)
See a penny pick it up,
All day long you'll have good luck.
Pass it on to a friend,
And your luck will never end
I will pick up any amount and if can't pass it on, will chuck it in charity box |

Would have been handy for me, being a lefty
Back to the plot though... I wouldn't stoop to pick up a penny or 2p - they're magnetic. Pickup tool works nicely. I usually don't pick pennies up as every time I do I usually get clobbered by something or have rotten luck - so I've given those best.

I saw a £20 note folded and lying on the floor of the supermarket doorway. I suddenly turned into a ninja, took a slide and long stride so my boot covered it , then got my phone out ( stood half way in and half way out of the exit doors). Pretended to use my phone texting for about 4 mins while i waited to see if anyone came looking for it. Then kneeled to fix my boot !!! while sliding it out and into my palm.
By the time i had walked away i was in total 'guilt' mode. Wondered if i had been filmed for some TV show, thought of a pensioner somewhere with no food all weekend. Or a mother with children who didnt have any nappies.
All because I had taken their money.
Ended up putting it in my purse as i passed the betting office and convinced myself it would only of gone on a horse. |

There was a news story a year or so ago about an old couple who always picked up any money they found on the floor and put in a jar at home. I can't remember how much they collected in a year but it was an impressive amount, somewhere between £20 and £50 I seem to recall, so collect and save those pennies because as the old saying went, save the pennies and the pounds will look after themselves... |

I always pick it up and pass it on to someone else, or put it in the kid's money box. If there's money left in the coffee machine at work I put it in the charity box. |

Like others I've glued coins to the floor. Was hilarious until, one day, an enterprising young kid tried to pick up the pound coin we'd glued down. Couldn't do it so he cycled off, only to come back with a screw driver and a hammer.
We stopped gluing coins down after that. Didn't seem as much fun.
