I really want a set of hogtie restraints, but I get a bit excited and end up snapping the straps.

What would you recommend that is strong but are not going to cost a bomb!

Try the bbb, that has some good restraint stalls and bespoke leather workers

Yep.

6-8mm Nylon cord (don't use Paracord, Climbing rope or other ropes with an outer sheath).

Dirty cheap, easy to care for.

I'd recommend going to a Rope Jam or intro to Shibari course as there are safety factors you need to be aware of.
