I think I've lost my tampon inside of me.

I'm being serious and I'm worried.
I have no recollection of removing it but I definitely had one in.
I'm on holiday and using tampons for the first time in my life. I was using them for 3 or 4 days no problem then yesterday one just vanished out of my fanny.
I've checked as much as I can. I'm not afraid to get stuck in and feel around. I think I feel my cervix and all around that but no sign of the tampon or string. I'm going as deep as I can, using a mirror, lying down, squat and bear down etc but no tampon anywhere.
Where the fuck has it gone? I definitely 100% had a tampon in I know it.
I've got tummy ache too but that might be dodgy food and anxiety I don’t know.
I don't really want to go to the doctor because nobody speaks English here and being in an unfamiliar setting trying to explain all of this is going to be stressful especially if it ends up not being there but I will book an appointment when I'm home at the weekend.
What are the chances it is in there somewhere? Or would I definitely feel it?

Oh lovely.
I don't want to worry you but you really must get it checked. If left inside you can get toxic shock syndrome. Especially as you have tummy ache. I really hope you're ok.

I don't want to worry you but it shouldn't stay inside for a long period of time as you can get Toxic shock syndrome. I am sure the Hospital will have someone who speaks English to be able to help if you really do think you didn't take it out

Yes I am worried about TSS I really don't want to go to the doctors here though because surely it can't be in my fanny because I would feel it with my fingers I have searched what feels like every crevice of my insides but the WHAT IF IT'S STILL THERE question is making me worry because I don't know just how big or long my fanny is and for all I know there could be hidden corners and rooms I'm not able to reach.
Maybe too much information but I did have a shit yesterday and I keep thinking maybe I pushed it out and didn't even realise because I was pushing it to the limit to try and get rid of all of my diarrhea but I don't know surely I'd feel it come out because when I take a tampon out there's always some pressure.
I read some stories online about women having them in their fanny for weeks without even realising. Why does this have to happen.

If it’s really stuck in there you might not be able to feel it, it could be compressed right at the top. I’d be a little concerned about TSS and probably get it checked out if you know for sure it’s still in there. |

I had a string disconnect from a tampon years ago and spent a weekend poking about, feeling it but not getting it out. Went to the quacks first thing Monday morning and the lovely nurse retrieved the offending article.
Get yourself to a doctor as toxic shock can be a real problem.
Trust me, you will be neither the first nor the last case of stray tampon they have dealt with. |

Like others have said its a common problem which the doctor's have seen before, at least it will stop you from worrying and you can get on with your day. |

Firstly don't panic a tampon can be retained but cannot get lost as it will not be able to go past your cervix
Wash your hands and squat over a mirror or your phone camera whilst breathing out and bareing down as if having a poo gently insert a finger as far back as you can if you can feel a fleshy mound quite high up and slightly tilted back then that is your cervix so highly unlikely a tampon is retained if you can see or feel the tampon then try carefully to remove it.
If you are with somebody get them to check for you failing that then seek medical assistance immediately |

I've done that and I can't feel the tampon anywhere. I can feel my cervix, and swipe my fingers all around and to the sides of that area and there is nothing there. Surely that is where it would be? I got my partner to look as I kind of spread myself and he couldn't see anything and there is no discomfort apart from tummy ache which could be unrelated. I feel fine.
I'll have another good feel for it when I go back to my room and then look at the local hospital and see what I can do. I'm just leaning more towards it isn't there and wanted some reassurance and to hear familiar stories because surely you'd know it was there?
I appreciate all of the replies. But no special prizes in my fanny Kaitonel other than a potentially mouldy 24hr old tampon.

And future advice is use supermarket own brand tampons they tend to be slightly longer and have the old style cardboard applicators which in my opinion help with better placement.
I can't stand the new style tampax pearl compaks find them really uncomfortable and am definitely not alone as the majority of online reviews agree |

If you can feel your cervix then you should be ok.
The cervix is too small to allow a tampon to pass through.
It can be retained in the vaginal canal towards the cervix but cannot go any further than the cervix itself |

If you can’t feel it then it’s probably gone - they can fall out when you’re on the loo if they were needing to be changed (ie soaked so slipper and heavy).
I had a friend who once left a tampon in for over a week and only found out she had one inside her because she went to the gp about a new and unpleasant discharge she was getting (dumbarse). You’re very unlikely to become ill if there is one inside you for a few days until you get home, but it sounds like it’s out |

Well I went to a local emergency centre but they didn't speak English and I was using Google translate but getting nowhere and they gave me a number for a hospital but it is ages away. We are in a very quiet small town and barely anyone speaks English here so it isn't easy.
I'm still feeling around and can not feel it anywhere. I'm going to go with my gut feeling that it isn't there and fell out when I shit? Because I would feel it like others have said if I'm feeling my cervix etc. But when I'm back I will make an appointment with my GP to get it checked out and make sure. I'll keep an eye out for symptoms too.
And Velvet I don't don't a brummie accent mine is awful! I've got a Manc one. |

Oh sweetie, been there! I had one 'lost' for a couple of weeks without realising. Then the tummy ache and smell!
I went to the gum clinic thinking I'd caught an std!
Have you checked the signs and symptoms of toxic shock? (Not sure if raised temperature is a sign?)
Hope you get it out on your own! Good luck x |
