Why is it that being gay, trans or identifying as a kettle is openly celebrated in marches, flags and other events but swingers hide away.

Because what people do for sexual thrills is not something most people want to know about each other.

Nobody is stopping you or any swinger from being out in the open and organising a march and getting a flag.

It's not about hiding. It's the mystique of it clandestine if you will. The build up, the mystery the chance to be free with like minded people to fulfil a fantasy.

I like being under the radar.

My private life, my sex life is private to me.

The only reason we hid swinging was having kids.

That was just for them really, because some people are that judgy they would do things like stopping their kids be friends with other kids etc.

Usually the ones cheating on their monogamous partners, with their kids rugby coach.

I think it ruined people's drama and they felt upstaged or something, more than any moral position.

If you want to march down the street with a pineapple flag in lingerie- do!

I don't understand why you want to hide your lifestyle if you feel that strong about it.

Tbf your comparisons aren't exactly equal as others have suggested sexuality/gender aren't an equal comparison.

I’m thinking what colours the flag would be…

I think that brown would be very representative, it’s what you get when you mix all the colours together

We wanted a pineapple at the weekend for cocktails etc. Off I dutifully trotted to do the shopping, dropped a pineapple in the trolley along with the rest. Thaught nothing of it till I noticed not once but twice, 2 other ladies giving me the knowing look and smile. Told hubby when I got back who promptly fell about laughing. Xx

Maybe because people see sexaul orientation as just something innate to the individuals personally but they relate swinging more with actual sexual activity than innate sexuallity. Because everyone has sexual orientation but not everyone expresses their sexual desires like swingers do or as freely as we do. Plus people are very aware of the risks in terms of employment and the law of openingly being critical of others sexual orientation. That's not a defence, I think we all wish to have less stigma around our life choices and desires.

However swinging is finding its self more and more explored in the media these days and attitudes are changing slowly. It's not a great secret we're swingers and we've not encountered anyone having a problem with it. Generally people want to know more and have brought people from curiosity into the lifestyle before.

In a ball gown because that's how we roll in N. Devon

I don't get why some people feel the need to tell everyone else about their sex life.

Sexual orientation isn't the same.

What she said.

(Also I don't actually care about knowing people's gender identity/sexual orientation/level of kink)
