So this will be my second Valentine's as a single lady. Last year I escaped to my grandparents' thinking that it'd be away from romantic stuff up there... it wasn't.
This year I can't decide what to do, so I'm going to be brave and throw it open to you lot, sensible suggestions will be considered. |

It's never bothered me as a singleton and I've had a good few Februarys where I've not been in a relationship. Can honestly say, since I left school, I've never had a card apart from ones off my significant other of the time and whilst I'll joke about not getting any (fnar, fnar) it makes not one iota of difference to me and I think if I did have an anonymous card, it'd do my head in trying to think who it was as I'd much rather they just asked me for a date or shag.
I'm afraid unless you hibernate for the next 2 weeks in a small cave in the middle of the Saharan wastes you won't be able to avoid the hearts and flowers in the shops Ruby, so best to just grin and bear it |

Being single doesn't bother me unless other people being in a relationship is rammed down my throat (as in Valentine's day) I love my own space, bed and rules.... but every so often (once or twice a year) that niggling thought of "oh I wouldn't mind" comes into my head but is quickly told to fuck off!! |

I love valentines day as a singleton, and count myself lucky at how much money I'm saving whilst others are paying for gifts, cards, flowers, night out etc |

There isn't one, I can't think of anything I want less in the world. Yet having everyone's happiness in relationships rammed down my throat makes me think what if.
I am single through choice, its how I like my life. |

Well from a single blokes view: I agree as well. The pressure is painful.
Meals out are overpriced and poor quality and if you want to buy treat the price has gone up.....
Normal day ignoring it all wanting it to pass by.
I can then just enjoy a nice meal, bottle of wine and a good film. |

Looking for company in my hotel!!
Are cupids not doing anything that night if you're well enough to go misbehave outrageously!? |

Cupids will either be dead or full of single blokes. The parties are the 15th and 16th.
I think I'll buy my wand a bottle of wine and we can enjoy it together lol. |

Well it will be my first valentines single in about 12 years. Was hoping to get a guy I was meeting fairly regular round for some naughty antics but now he's binned me and started seeing someone! Argh. Sure they will get each other a card tho. How lovely |

It's my second year as a singleton too ... but thankfully I am the happiest I have been for years !!!
My lovely little boy died 10 years ago on valentines day .... so guess if I ever do fall very madly and deeply again ... it will never mean the same !!! |

That's because he missed words out. It is supposed to say 'I suppose I've got to open my legs now?' |

Its roots go back to raucous annual Roman festivals where men stripped naked, grabbed goat- or dog-skin whips, and spanked young maidens in hopes of increasing their fertility.
Sounds like an idea? |

Do as I do, ignore it! If I loved someone I would not need a special day to tell. I cant understand why its seen as 'romantic' to take part in an over commercialised event that has been over sentimentalised. I'd sooner surprise my loved one out of the blue when she was least expecting it a few times in the year. |

I look at all the hype and feel sorry for those taken in by it all.
25 years single here and I would be terribly disappointed to be in a relationship with someone who waited for a day in February to show me how he felt. |

It would be quicker for me if I told you how many valentines I've had in a relationship! I think it's just the one but I am grateful that I don't have to feel like I have to do something special for someone one day a year and pay an extortionate amount for it! |

Single folk its all over hyped over charged bollocks!
The only time I won't buy flowers is around valentines !
If you go out for a drink an a meal add a couple of zeros on the bill, get a good movie an a carry out instead !
Romance isn't one day a year |
