Memorable gig moments
Jump to: Newest in thread
Good to see a love of music and live performance on here. What are some of your most memorable gig moments... Either from the band or performers or something that happened to you? The punk thread reminded me of quite a few.. |

Not a huge gig goer. I can’t think of anything so nothing could have been particularly memorable.
But hopefully others have had some top moments! Anyone? |

I went to see Post Malone recently. someone in the crowd chucked their trainer onto the stage, he poured his beer into it and drank it. I was gagging a bit but I don’t think I’ll forget it in a hurry. one half of the crowd were cheering him on and the other half were screaming noooo

Rage Against The Machine- Finsbury Park. Never felt so much collective energy in my life.

RHCP in Sheffield, young Eastern European lady asked me to pick her up on my shoulders so she could get some photos. Once she’d done she tapped me on the head and said ‘ok thanks baldy, put me down now’ |

At a very intimate setting in 1981, I was watching Depeche Mode on a small stage at the Regency Suite not far from me.
I was about 10 feet away leaning on a wooden railing standing just above the dance floor, level with the stage and as he sang Dave Gahan looked over and caught me dead in the eyes
Later at the bar I stood a couple of feet away from them and Martin Gore looked at me too

Seeing Kate Bush at Hammersmith realising it would probably never happen again.
Seeing Richey Edwards MSP run and jump into the crowd from the stage still wearing his fender guitar and returning without it. Someone got one hell of a memento that night! |

Seeing Manchester academy packed out with people trying to sing Mongolian. Download 2012 seeing black sabbath just after Tony was cleared of lymphoma, when we got to the camp we had no idea if he’d be with the band or not but I’ll never forget how loud that crowd got when Ozzy introduced him |

Was lucky enough to get hospitality tickets for the Foo Fighters at MEN Arena back in 2005, sat down to watch Eagles Of Death Metal and Taylor Hawkins sat next to me to enjoy the show. Signed my daughters ticket, and after he left a security guard gave her a pair of drum sticks saying they were from him. Special night |

I saw BNQT - an Indie super-group with Fran Healey, Alex Kapranos, with members of Midlake, Band of Horses, and Grandaddy in the line up, at Roundhouse in Soho. Fran Healey jumped off stage and stood next to me. Got a pic of that somewhere.
OMD at Royal Albert Hall was pretty special, too. |

"Wayne Coyne from the Flaming Lips crowdsurfing in a giant inflatable hamster ball was pretty epic!

I was one of the animals dancing on stage at a Flaming Lips gig once. That was memorable (and very hot)!
Weirdly, years later, I got to know their ex-drummer quite well. He lives in Wales.

Unusual gig was Blueman Group. That was an experience to behold. Weird af but VERY entertaining. |

Being at the first gig the Foofighters played in London - it was on MTV, and also being at the last gig Sepultura played with the original line-up. The band split shortly after. Both were amazing. |

Went to see Michael Jackson at Wembley when I was 14, I managed to get right down to the front but off to the side of the stage which I was disappointed about wanted to be front and centre, but then he moonwalked across the stage stopped right in front of me and did the Smooth Criminal lean, so I was chuffed to bits in the end! |

Love live music and go to a LOT of gigs, but off the top of my head one sticks out...
A few years ago I started dating someone and she had just got 2 VIP tickets to see Black Sabbath on their The End tour...
Got in early to see their soundcheck and was at the very front for the show, right in front of Tony Iommi, and got one of his guitar picks too! |

"When I went to see the exploited..and crass turned up as a surprise support band...the bonehead's in the crowd.. weren't pleased..
Who was the skinhead band playing?"
No skinhead band playing..it was the 100 club.. anything like the exploited would generally attract the bonehead's sort of one's you wouldn't want to take to an auction..if you know what I mean.. |

The band Living Colour and they were playing to around 950 people at Manchester Academy 2. A d*unk heckler kept shouting it wasn't loud enough so the singer made them kill the mics and the PA and he performed the song acapella to a stunned silent crowd and his voice was so powerful we all heard it crystal clear.
Even shut the heckler up!
Many years before I saw the band Screaming Trees (a couple of members went on to form Queens of the Stone Age) split up on stage at the very same venue culminating in them beating the hell out of each other! |

I was extremely pregnant back then and was ferried to my seat in the lift before anyone else was allowed in. It's the little things

The Terrorvision gig where the pogoing collapsed the dance floor.
Also watching Therapy the day Father Ted died and the band dedicated a sing to him and it all got a bit emotional.
Ooh. And the gig where the Prodigy did a 3 song set as an unannounced support band at the Wulfrun. Pretty sure that was Therapy also.
Less happily, a Dylan gig where he had his back effectively turned to the audience for the whole set. The grumpy git.
Lou Reed made me very, very happy though.. |
