Tell me what would your ideal midlife crisis look like?

Any essentials I need to tick off or anything you suggest I avoid?

Help a girl out as I'm running out of ideas!

Our midlife crisis was to lookat each other and think it's time to join a gym and look after our bodies.

5 year later we are reaping the rewards.

I’ve managed to give birth to two kids in my early forties in a space of 20 months but I guess it’s something out of “I’d rather not to” category

I started mine in my late thirties. Some of it is fun, some was sleepless nights in both good and bad ways. When you stop caring what others will think and doing what you like, you're on the right path.

I don't know what works for you but don't be scared to say yes. Study, travel, try that new hobby that will scare you shitless.

Hey SeniorWyld!

I'm not sure yet, I've got a fair years left to go before I start crisising it.

Hmmm... get to socials. Dance and snog and flirt with brilliant people. Go to Italy. Italian men are well worth a midlife crisis. All that passion and intensity.

Learn to cook something you've always wanted to. Learn a new language. Some subject that sparks passion in you.

Want to get another tattoo? A piercing? Do it.

Have another road trip during the sunshine. Stay up late talking to new friends, drinking in the sunshine.

Just live I guess. How you want, no apologies unless you're being a douche. And enjoy it.

I guess I'm living mine now.

Got my ears pierced, stopped worrying about what other people think, opened up as being Bisexual and started swinging.

Wish I'd of had this crisis 10 years ago

My odometer has moved from 4 to 5 today.

For me it’s been setting boundaries and doing things I am comfortable and happy with, not to please other people. Have shed a lot of people in the process but I don’t give a flying f*ck.

And got myself a nice little convertible car. I luffs it.

Just fuck anyone that approaches you regardless of your attraction to them, then have a few months of regret.

Worked for me!

La la land

I started caring about what I wanted for myself in my late 30's. I left the relationship I had been in for over 20 years, as I didn't like who I was and I couldn't image wanting to spend the the next 20 years with him.

I started who I was as an individual and what my wants and desires were. I've changed a lot in the last 5 years and I suspect I'm not with changing either.

We went to a Ministry of Sound weekend at Butlins and it was like Ibiza, except in Skegness . It was full of 20/30/40 years olds and we danced right through each night and were at the pool parties each day and having sex in between

We felt so bad that we booked again and have been to a couple of other dance festivals now

Don't tell your partner that you need to see them less and work more to buy the flashy car you want ....someone did that to me. It wasn't nice.

And going for someone half your age....yep that felt shit too considering we hadn't even split.

Anyway besides that, life begins at 40. Your midlife crisis isn't due yet.

I've got 5 years on you and I've just started dying my hair random colours, I will keep you posted on what happens next.

I did that in my 20s.

Bought sports cars in my 30s.

Moved to the country in my 40s.

Fuck knows what’s next but I’m excited to find out.

I dreaded turning 40, thought it would be awful for some reason. Turns out I’m happier than I was in my 20s and 30s! Might have something to do with leaving an abusive marriage and a lot to do with pleasing myself more and caring less about the opinions of others.

Tattoos and piercings have crept in this last year, if that’s my midlife crisis, I like it

Totally agree. I feel more like a better version of my early 20s self than my 30s self.

Time, experience, self reflection and reconnecting to who I am rather than who I thought I should be and also not giving a crap about what others think is making my 42nd year wonderful. There are still lows but now I can navigate them and they don't define me.

I've mostly been going to lots of gigs, away from home and on my own.

Joined fab and started meeting much younger men. I'm embracing the "cougar" status

I've already done that tattoos/piercing thing.

What you should do is, do what ever you want. Life is short so go for it

Sorry I ended up busy yesterday so only just reading these now! Good work everyone.

I think part of my crisis started a few years ago when I took up Burlesque.

I bought my dream car last year.

I'm certainly trying to drop the weight of others opinions and be more care free.

I think saying yes to more things is definitely going well for me.

Next year I'm going to run away to Paris, people watch and write.

I love that you've all done different things but the general consensus is to just be happy.

Guess that should be life goals in general x

Oh to be 40 again, it was a fantastic decade!

Write a list - 5 things you want to achieve in the next year, 5 things to achieve within 5 years. Then do them

One of mine is camping overnight in the peaks to see the milky-way and watch the sun rise... Tame for some, but exciting for me - I'm a simple girl
