So they shout and scream they want their so called Malvina's back but then refuse an invitation to talks concerning this issue ??
Whats everyones view on this situation ? Personally i think it should be up to the inhabitants and Argentina should respect that.
I did read in The Times last year a comparison between Argentina's military capability and ours and the results spoke for themselves lol !! I doubt very much they would be silly enough to invade again or would they ?? |

I was involved with the campaign in 1982 and if they invaded again I, d do it again , by them not talking , to me it shows they have & probably never had/have any intention to go down the peaceful democratic route to settle this .
The amount of british military personel on the islands now I doubt they would invade again , hopefully . |

Nothing more than the early rounds political posturing……
Declining diplomatic talks is a usual practice before agreeing to hold negotiations just to discuss the agenda for any talks that might take place….!.

They might, and if there was enough of them, they might well succeed.
We'd struggle to retake the Falklands now without being in the embarassing position of having to 'borrow' a carrier from France (which might explain why we're being to nice to them in Mali). |

Personally i highly doubt they would invade again since just one of our destroyers can knock out their entire air capacity from a 1000 miles away lol.
Their military capability is out dated and weak.
I do however agree with "Camoron" for once that it should be left to the islanders to decide their fate and if they decide they want to continue their lives there we should do everything in our power to protect that right |

That's a bit of an exagerration, even for Type 45s. 400km is more accurate. |

I stand corrected However even our current deployment is still a far superior military power |

In total, yes, I'd agree but quite a few of our lot are busy elsewhere.
Plus, their lot are much closer. |

Agreed , but even so would still be a very foolish manouvre on their part |

The full story hasn't been presented here. The Argentines were invited to a meeting between the British govt, the Falkland Islander's representatives and the Argies. They declined because the UN recognises that this is a dispute between London and Buenos Aires and Argentina do not recognise the Falkland Island government.
You have to remember that the Argentine PM is only sabre rattling to deflect attention away from the chronic economic problems in her own country. They don't have the finances to mount a campaign to reclaim the Falklands and they know full well that we'll defend them again if necessary. |

" Regardless of the politicians posturing and being their usual gingoistic selves the right to self determination and governance of choice is a corner stone of democray and has to be upheld. See world war two! |

It wasn't the brightest trick last time but that didn't stop them. |

nail on the head, Argentina in court for restructuring the debt they have, even their own government doesn't trust they economic figures they pump out.
Personally a "lease back" solution would be perfect "yes it was yours but you lease it to us for the next 200 years and hears a few million quid, now get your tanks off the lawn please" |
