So... how often are you right?
Are you good at knowing how things will play out? Or do you tend to not think about that and just live in the moment?
Also, "told you so" is really quite a gently irritating saying isn't it? Like shampoo in your eyes. Or come. |

I'm actually quite good at it.
I see a lot of things coming but I do still get blindsided from time to time.
I don't do the whole 'I told you so' thing though because I find it condescending .

I do the "I told you so" when they were an actual nightmare leading up to the peak of their wrongness.
Otherwise I just give the look. |

When my mum was alive she would frequently sack her carers despite her knowing, my dad knowing and me knowing that she couldn't cope without them. Every, single, damn time she would tell me she needed carers again after a few days. Every, single, damn time I silently screamed but resisted the almost overwhelming temptation to say
"I darn well told you so!" |

At work, I’m pretty good at it. My personal life has been hit and miss at best. Living in the moment doesn’t really work with an underlying control freak in my personality. |

When you have some smarts you tend to see the possibilities in advance. So in hindsight it feels like you knew it, whatever the outcome.
I laugh at the absurdity a lot these days and at myself, for forgetting that.
Sometimes a possibility you didn't consider comes along that's a good reminder. |

I was once at a corporate event and the MC,a very well known former rugby star (of the 70s ) basked a question that he said no one would ever answer.
I knew the answer and wrote it down.
He was giving out the prizes and when it came to the specific question he said no one got it right. I objected and told him. He “shushed” me and gave the prize,a weekend in Amsterdam, to some twat who got it wrong. I was restrained from belting the MC , mainly for the “shushing”
Twat. |

I'd never say 'told ya so'. That's way to polite for me. But as to how things will play out, I'm more right than wrong .
I do think its an autism thing to have difficulty working out what a person means but people dynamics are easier to anticipate.
I've been told that come in the nose is worse than in the eye but no first hand experience |

"Not as often as I used to think. I've been blindly ignoring my instincts and using trust instead.
Hasn't worked out well recently.
"
Oh Lib. Genuinely sorry. Instincts are part of it and as wonderful as trust can be, it's best to marry them rather than ignore one. |

It's all good! Just thought I'd take a leap of faith a bit more. For science. |

Meh, who actually cares. Think people get so wrapped up in wanting to be right or seen as right, that the important things get missed.
Yeah don't be an idiot and put thought before you act. So you know you did your best, beyond that I really don't think it's necessary.
I work with someone who has to be right all the time and apparently never fucks up. They spend more time covering up their mistakes and looking like they are right. Than actually doing any work of actual value. Plus everyone thinks they're a Muppet.
We all sometimes get it right, sometimes get it wrong. The majority of the time regardless of which it makes little impact on our life. |

Being an overthinker helps because you have conjured up every possible outcome, added it all up with the probabilities and lo and behold, 10 million brain clicks later and a dollop of common sense then yes you can say (or think it smugly to yourself) well well, told you so |

I'm actually not bad at knowing how something will play out.
I've been blindsided before now though but I'm usually not far off.
I wouldn't tell someone I told you so though, it must makes you look condescending. |

Ha! My fiancé hasn't realised it either. He's a very intelligent man but for some strange reason he hasn't worked that out yet.
Maybe it's a them issue rather than an us issue. |

If it's scientific or technical, basically I'm right. Was right about everything since the start of covid 19, am still right in my continued caution. I take no pleasure in being right about all that though, would far rather have been completely wrong.
Everything I said about brexit has been absolutely confirmed.
If I explain something that involves mathematics or physics, then just assume that I'm right, it'll save a lot of time. If it's about softer sciences such as biology or genetics, then I'm more informed than anybody that just gets their information from newspapers or youtube, but I know my limits and will defer to those who are actually immersed in these disciplines.
If it's anything transgender, then 15 years being trans means that I do know more than anyone whose knowledge of biology, gender studies and feminism was derived from tabloid newspapers, youtube/twitter/reddit, politicians, and stuff said by transphobes.
If it's interpersonal relationships, especially those involving myself, then I don't have a fucking clue what I'm doing.
Oh, and just don't bother asking me about interior decorating colour schemes... |

At work I'm right quite often.
In my personal life I just want to see the best in everyone and I'm known for being "too nice"
Friends could often say they told me so but they never do. |

Being blindsided is understandable. I think sometimes we can look back and say "oh I knew this would happen" if we had a feeling about something.
It's really rather condescending! I was also over it by the time I typed the OP but thought it would make an interesting topic. |

I think we can be blindsided quicker when it comes to ourselves. But we have the benefit of observation with others and maybe a chance to see a different angle. |

It is interesting that not a single person has said that they write predictions down in advance and then check to see how their predictions play out.
The _biggest_ cognitive bias we have is over confidence and writing your predictions down and checking them later is almost always a universally humbling experience.
You can thank me once you have checked how accurate your predictions really are |

I have anxiety. So I play out a lot of situations in my head. But therapy has helped me live more in the moment. But usually when something happens I get that ‘i knew it ‘ feeling if it’s negative.
I read somewhere to try and challenge thoughts so we do less what if [insert negative thing] happens and not what if [insert positive thing] happens.
