I've just been having a discussion on blocking profiles and would like to hear some views on the following from you lovely people.
I have messages from single guys blocked in my settings, and I was wondering, would it be a good or bad idea to have the facility to block categories of people from viewing your profile.
So for example, I could further expand on the message block and stop single guys from viewing, or if somebody wasn't seeking single bi fems (yeah right) then they could be blocked from viewing ones profile.
I can't see any bad points in this feature. Please discuss, I'm interested to hear your points of view, good points/bad points etc

So I have message filters 38 - 55 and if I am understanding what you are saying, only that age group can view my profile? And appear on my looked at list too? |

Not necessarily as age limits may be expanded by some to give or take a year, and someone's age would increase on their birthday and then they may fall within your age limits. However, if you are not looking for a particular sex or couple for example, that is less likely to change. Obviously it would be a filter than can be applied and then taken off as you wish, exactly the same as other filters that are in place
I'll expand a little on this. I was spotted a while back by a single guy, who caused me some grief on here, so I blocked all single guys in my area, to hopefully put additional safeguards in place to prevent this from occuring again. This was time consuming as it meant doing a search and going through each individual to block. Now I know that could happen with women & couples too, so it wouldn't fully stop that issue. But in addition to this, I am not looking for single guys to meet with, so it really is irrelevant. I don't go through guys profiles looking for tips, or trying to find out who is on here either, none of my business.
So I just wondered if it would be a feature worth having? Hope that makes sense |

"I see what you are saying. If they are blocked from messaging why should you even appear to them.
Personally I'm not bothered either way"
I occasionally browse people and even thought I've got my age preference set on my profile I do see people a year or two either way that I would miss out on if that were the case. Xx |

That doesn't bother me in the slightest, more than happy to chat with anyone on this site regardless of status, race, gender or sexual orientation.

I agree with this, if you could block people you don't want from viewing profile, it would stop unwanted messages, then stop moaning that messages aren't being responded too etc |

Not really, if they can't contact me or view me then I can speak on my terms, ie, in chatrooms and forums, which I'm more than happy to do. And I also have a better idea its not some arse locally who may spot me and decide to flash my profile about the local I use with my family and friends

If you are worried about that happening then maybe keeping face pictures purely in your private gallery would be a safer idea? |

Good advice, and I do on the whole now, I tend to unhide a couple for short periods of time, and will hide them again shortly after |

By restricting people's ability to perv at will, the interest in the site would be reduced for many people. Bad for business and doesn't have any real useful function. Anything you don't want people to see, avoid putting in the public domain. Especially as people can bypass filters in seconds by changing their registration details |

No one can change their own gender to bypass filters
But your other advice is spot on for me...."Anything you don't want people to see, avoid putting in the public domain" |

"I'm assuming he means by setting up a false profile, which is very true & one way of getting past being blocked.
Good valid points "
I was thinking of age mainly. People have changed their age to message our couple account and then changed it back once the message is sent. It confused us for ages how we were getting messages out of our age range. But true, there's also completely fake accounts too... all fun and games eh? |

I don't see the need to block views!
I have a few male 'friends' that I chat with (not THAT kind of friends) and I also view the odd male profile for various reasons - giving feedback to those asking in forums, viewing amusing donut/comedy photos mentioned in the forums, and I'll also confess to 'back tracking' the odd veri if someone I'm interested in catches my eye - both to check the two way feedback and also as I'm not into meeting those that have met those that confess to regular barebacking or gangbangs (their choice - just not my thing!).
So blocking the ability to view would hamper me and possibly many others. And if you recieve messages from those you're not seeking - simply decline, delete or block!! |

More good points on the idea. It does seem that most people think its a bad idea though, but glad to hear all the comments and views. Cheers for your input mate |
