Since my Grandson wad born last October I keep having awful what if feelings and I can't seem to shake them,I love all my Grandkids ,but since this little ones been born my heart has just melted I don't know if it's because it's been 14years since my last Grandchild was born or that I'm older,I just hate the way I'm feeling

Any advise would be most welcome

Embrace the total joy that is now in your life and know that what is in your mind is not reality.

I have found the best way to do this is by practicing mindfulness every day.

Could be the aftermath of Covid leaving you feel like that... subconsciously I'm pretty sure it's done alot to alter the way we all think and feel. I was discussing this with family not so long back and how it's affected my youngest and her cousin, both full of character but lacking social confidence.

That aside though... what has really changed in that time? Yes, things have such as technology etc but as a whole has life altered that much?

Ignoring the news and hyped up scary headlines, life continues and we all carry on x

Like invasive thoughts? Anxiety?

There's a little bit online about PPA in grandparents ,im no doctor but it might be worth a read.

Wouldn't do any harm to speak to your GP about how you're feeling.

My PM is open if you need a chat

Em x

I know it’s hard but you have to live for today, life has its ups and downs and many people try to level this out by predicting and planning about what may or may not be.

But if you live like that then you have neither highs nor lows just a level that is safe but ultimately unsatisfying. So this new little one will face trials and tribulations, just like all human beings since the start of time and they will overcome the lows and enjoy the highs. How? Through the love and nurture that their parents, grandparents and others give to them.

Do not worry, you are their guide, their support, their fear remover and their joy sharer, for all the time that you are there and when you are gone, as we must all surely go, your memory will live long in their happiness, their actions and their strength

Had 2 great grandsons born last Nov been 24 years since my last grandchild was born! They will allways remember me! But with these 2 great grandchildren I do think I might not b around long enough for them to remember me! Like I can barley remember my great grandma! Makes me somewhat sad x

Make lots of videos with them, give them immense amounts of love and they will carry you in their hearts forever
