Mine is good but my sons isn't. He's 19, I'm not sure what I can do to help him. He talks to me, doesn't want to see our gp in case they think he's crazy and/or puts him on medication. If anyone can offer any advice I'd be grateful

Look up your local PCN (Primary Care Network) - they will hopefully have various things near you or people he can talk to.

It's difficult when people are at that 'they'll think I'm crazy and medicate me until I'm a zombie' stage.

He has to understand he's not the first or last. its more common than he knows. Yeah there's a stigma to it and I bet he's terrified of what his peers would say.

Medication is just one option available and maybe easier in some regards than talking it out.

Lifestyle makes a big difference. If he's using the devils lettuce, it doesn't help.

I've been there with mine, lets just say they didn't lick it off the grass, so I can understand what they're going through

I have a 19yo son too. He's had issues too and it can be hard to get them to ask for help but it's great that he's talking to you. Would he consider talking to a therapist? You can self-refer, so he'd not have to deal with a GP. If you Google NHS self-help therapies there's a link for that and also to online communities etc. CBT-based stuff might work well as it's more practical strategies rather than "how do you feel about that" therapy. Hope you're able to help get him support, I know how worrying it is!

I'm very up and down at the moment. But learning that I'm never down too long, but need to get on a more even keel.

Mine has been shot to shit this year. I lost my brother in July last year, the anniversary is comming up and both my cats. The last one a month ago. He was my fluffy distraction that helped me regulate my moods. My cat and my brother were the ones I had to keep me company during the nights. My brothers suicide came out of the blue and my cat suddenly got sick and died within a month. I had been taking serotonin and Dopamine supplements to try and keep myself above water but stopped now. I just feel comfortably numb atm. I used dark humour and I keep myself busy so not to wallow in grief. School holidays are in a week so I'll need lots of things to keep me occupied.

I'm feeling more positive than I was last week. I had an email over the weekend which has restored my faith in humanity a little bit. Finger crossed the next few weeks see more balls rolling and things falling into place.

I must admit, I'm really struggling today.

It's a really odd one as I'm feeling lonely, but it came on while i was visiting some good friends. I mean how can you feel lonely while surrounded with people you care about and know care about you?

I'm usually very open about my mh, but sometimes I just worry about bothering people and making them worry about me.

But now I'm back home alone and just feel worse.

Virtual hugs to anyone else struggling. X

Yeah that's true, but usually I only feel like this when on my own so I think it really threw me. Thank you

Anyone needs an ear... I'm here to listen.. its hard I've been there myself and it was easier to speak to strangers than to some of my friends I've had for years...

Someone off here really helped me get through (he never knew, but he literally saved my life) and I'm forever grateful for that. So I'm happy to listen and advise if needed

Hugs to all

After having a Mental Train-Wreck that sidelined me for 3 Months last Year , Yes, even my Oldest Friend has an idea of how Dark I got (Maybe not 100%), I signed up and an now a MH First aider at work.. unlike some of the Others (at work) I can truly relate..

It is always best to talk, Family, even a stranger and work out plans and ways to get stronger..

Always believe in Your strength and You are NEVER alone

Thank you for saying. It's a big, emotive subject for me because my father committed the big s I haven't told my children, I can't but I do wonder whether I should now they are older.

Does anyone have any experience with this?

I'm sorry you can't talk to your family, that must be tough.

Medication has helped me massively. It’s

Well worth a conversation to try and let him

Know, it’s not a sign of weakness to take medication…..if he broke his leg….he’s take pain relief

Medication for MH is the same…your brain/thoughts are a little bit broken

I wouldn't, not just yet. I made the decision not to let my kids know some details. Some things they know, other things can wait

Sagittarius A

Fair to middling.

Moderate hypo-arousal. Fairly emotionally numb. No intusive thoughts or flashbacks.

I moved some stones and built a firepit with them. In the rain of course.

Taught my daughter how to marinate a chicken. Mildly humorous watching her handle it like she was going to hurt it.
