I need one but can't get them.
Without paying through the nose,how can I find an NHS sugery. I've payed into the system all my working life but I can't get anywhere.

We can't get a NHS dentist. If we need work done we pay privately. We too have paid national insurance and tax all our adult lives. I don't know what to tell you because in our experience you either go privately or go without |

Sadly the possibility of finding an NHS detist is on a par with finding a needle in a haystack, my local dentist is in the village and they have a number of payment options and monthly plans.
My daughter is paying over £100 per week to cover her, husband, and 3 children. |

Have you tried the NHS 111 number or online? If it's urgent you usually can get to speak to a dental nurse who will go through options with you/get you treated in your local area. |

It is not that. It's almost nowhere are taking on nhs patients at all. Full private or not at all. At least in the majority of the northwest. |

I work (loosely) in this industry, and can tell you from the horse's mouth that no dentists are taking on new NHS patients.
Paying privately for your dental visits and treatment is the new norm. |

The service finder on the NHS website enables you to find local NHS services, including dentists. You will need to contact the dental practice directly and check whether they are currently accepting NHS patients. |

Yep I don't work in the industry but I think NHS work is no longer viable for dentists to undertake. Don't get mad at the dentists, keep that for the politicians and those that voted them in. |

She aasures me that is the amount she is paying for a dental plan for the 5 of them.
I paid nearly £700 for dental treatment last year, that did include some accident damage repairs. |

She’s being ripped off. Standard plans are about £12-£15 a month for an adult to visit for one check up and hygienist visit once a year.
Unless the whole family is getting diamond grills perhaps suggest she looks elsewhere! |

Does your employer offer any kind of employee assistance scheme? Some include contributions towards dental treatment.
Otherwise, it's seeing if you can get into a dental teaching hospital, though these are now over subscribed with patients due to the lack of regular NHS services.
Next one is to find one of the lowest priced private dentists offering discounted check ups, but paying privately is probably the most realistic option unfortunately. |

My private dentist plan, £20 per month gets you 2x check, 2x hygienist and 10% off treatment. One filling just cost me £315, but better than a crown at £600… |

It depends on the asessment you go through but I would say that wpuld be the absolute minimum. It usually is quite a bit more. |

I get 75% off all my dental care here in France and there's plenty of em. Also I use a Spanish cosmetic dentist that is the best in the world... €500 for a whole new front tooth.
Trip to India perhaps? |

If you already have an NHS dentist, go regularly to stay on their list. Otherwise you will find yourself without one. |

I was with BUPA in York until they closed down leaving over 4000 patients without a dentist and virtually no chance of registering with another.

I've just phoned an established dentist near me and registered as an nhs patient. I have been added and have an appointment for 15th august. I checked reviews in case they had a poor rep but all seems well.  |

Have you tried going to a dental hospital? You can get booked in for quite extensive treatment and check ups for free.
There will be third year dental students studying who will be working on your teeth. In my experience they’re just as good, if not better, than a regular dentist. You can also get things you wouldn’t normally have on the NHS - for example I had some composite bonding done. Totally free.
Look for the nearest dental hospital to your area. |

I had an NHS dentist for years until they informed me last year that they were doing away with NHS patients and if I wanted to continue seeing them I'd have to pay the extortionate private fee.. it seems to be what they're all doing.. |

The NHS has a responsibility to ensure services are available to meet demands.

Theres an list of all the dentists that don't take NHS patients on the NHS England website. It's really useful. |
