That's a memory I don't want. I'm not squeamish by any means but I don't want my last memory of a loved one being them sliced open and their innards removed.

I am on the donor register but I hope none of my loved ones would have to watch them actually harvest my organs.

I have recieved organ donations, corneas. To which I am very grateful, but that's just awful watching your loved one being sliced open.

Did they explain what was going to happen? Did you consent to watch etc...?

Can't think of any reason why family would be asked to watch. Its an upsetting time for staff involved, never mind family.

Could it be and am.only guessing you had option of not watching i cannot see anyway you would be required to do so.

But on the plus side its a goof chance the removed organs will have saved or improved someone elses life which is something you should take pride in.

When we were kids my mum drummed into us fact she was donating her body to medical science. When she died of enphysemia i came close to saying no but realised i was being selfish not wanting her cut up etc. So glad i did now.

Hard part was getting them to accept her body for donation as her body was buggered and ideally they want fit healthy bodies if there is such a thing as an healthy dead body.

Personally i feel organ donation should be the norm and folk would have to opt out instead of in as few more bodies would be donated because some may not bother opting out.

I'm not even sure they would take any of my organs now.

Likewise, imagine how many people would opt out if this was the norm

Unless you asked to watch and this would probably be declined, they only allow you to see your loved one once they are stitched back up.

I think in your time of grief you may have miss understood
