As I take medication to regulate my blood pressure rather than just buying Viagra or other treatments for ED I have made an appointment to see my GP.
Can other who have done so let me know if their GP’s willingly prescribed viagra or other medication.
I get regular and strong early morning and nocturnal erections and, if aroused, daytime erections but I loose them very quickly and often in seconds
Others experience would be appreciated.
Thanks |

Speak to your GP. No one here is qualified to answer your question. And those that are would refrain from answering it, as they aren't here in an official capacity |

I just want to applaud you for not lying on the form at the pharmacy to just buy it and made the safe and sensible choice to see GP. |

I have an appointment to see my GP and would never take any drugs without his approval.
I am wondering how sympathetic they are with patients and their willingness to prescribe to guys with blood pressure regulated with medication. |

That would all depend on your patient records and if they think they're going to compromise your current medication.
I appreciate its in our nature to find an answer immediately (the Internet has helped that mentality alot) but you really are best speaking to your own GP and taking their advice |

An NHS GP only has 2 ed treatments they can prescribe, sildenafil (generic viagra) or tadalafil (generic cialis). If you have high bp, it will probably be tadalafil. For alternatives, you'd have to go private, but always see your gp first.

Also (for anyone who reads this) I would also do a bit of reading into the physiology or erections.
Basically there are 2 erection stages, first and second (they kept the naming simple). First is like your sympathetic nervous system (fight or flight) and is quick and fast but second stage is about sustaining it and more like parasympathetic system takes a bit to kick in our teens and youth they both happen together quite quickly so you get hard, stay hard and get the job done.
As we age the time lag between the stages means sometime it isn't ready to stay full mast so you get the first erection, rush to play but it goes down and then you have all the psychological issue of not being hard just right at the worst time "Coupling referred to it as The Melty Man Commeth".
Anyway, lecture over and who has left my oven on?? |

There may be an option if a different blood pressure medication that doesn't have the same side effect. |

Thank you. My BP is normal (130/75) with medication and has been for 25 years.

I do clinical research for a living.. DO ask questions and be transparent with your GP about any recent health changes or significant history and medications you take, including herbal remedies, potions etc.
Sildenafil has a large potential for side-effects and interactions. Don't treat it as an M&M's! Don't buy it off the pub's guy.. there is a good amount of counterfeit products in circulation.
Good luck buddy!

Most ed meds are vasodilators which means they open blood vessels to allow more blood to the penis. This leads to bp being lowered even more and may cause fainting or worse. Your gp will explain it all.

An update for anyone interested and advice to others. I visited my GP, very professional and easy to explain my issues. He checked my current medication and had no hesitation in prescribing generic Viagra. Took my first one last night and wow !!! My wife and I both think I should have gone much sooner and this morning after getting up and going to the shower is the first time in years my early morning erection stayed with me while I showered.
I have a follow up telephone appointment in 2 weeks and would urge anyone concerned with ED to make an appointment with their Dr.
It really is life changing. |
