In my experience the majority of men go straight for the clit and rub like their getting a stain out, for me that's shit.
Like anything else warm up around the edges, above the hood, slowly building up pressure unil the clit is ready.
Everyone's different but if anyone went straight in dry directly on the clit it's not ready and not nice.
