Under the new matrimonial law you current marriage certificate expires at your next anniversary.
You will have the option to renew it annually, or let it lapse. If it lapses all assets will be apportioned according to a formula to be published, unless there is a satisfactory agreement in place.
New marriage certificates will last for three years and then renewed annually. An application must be accompanied by an agreement on how assets are to be shared on expiry.
Single person certificates will be introduced in 2030. |

"Did you just make this up?
It’s all over the news.
It's all over the pews, don't you mean?
I see what you did there. But no.
It's not in The Guardian "
It’s not anywhere |

Not seen anything about this anywhere, we don't buy newspapers but we like to keep up with the daily news, as depressing as it is most days, but surely something as important as this would've been headline news, at least for a couple of days?
It will be our 37th anniversary on the 2nd September, so if we don't get this bit of paper sorted, all those years will just 'lapse' and that's it? Not seen anything at all about this bollocks, sorry mate..... |

You could pop into the post office and pick up a certificate renewal form. You have plenty of time. I don’t know what the fee is. |

"Come on where is this evidence based
Not sure what you’re getting at. I can only report it as I understand it.
Where did you get the information is what I think we'd all like to know. "
Oh. You think it might not be true after all?
Mmm you’ve got me thinking.

Yeah I think it might not be true.
Imagine the 90 year old presenting their spouse of 70 years with an expired marriage certificate instead of an anniversary gift |

"Caution good fabsters.
Some on here think that this may not be true, though it seems plausible to me. "
Stop this nonsense. Rarely have I seen someone talk such crap. Sorry to be rude but you should not do this. I have as much chance of fucking every lady on fab, i.e zero chance it’s true |

What in the council estate are u on about. Marriage certificates wont suddenly become invalid. There will be no divorces ever as you woyld merely wait til renewal. There will be no reason to get married apart from name change |

"What a good idea x
I’m glad you think so. I thought so too. It’s odd that it’s causing so many problems for people. "
I assume they have done away with the for richer for poorer, in sickness and in health, until death do us part and replaced it with for the duration of the marriage licence and no longer? |

The chances of this happening are about 0%...
Don't get me wrong, some sectors of our "lovely chosen representatives" would love to try and get it through, but do you really think the public would stand up and accept this??? |

Wedding ceremonies, like all ceremonies, go on too long so it would be no bad thing. |

I have gut feeling you don’t get invited so it won’t be a problem for you and others can enjoy without you.
Since I last posted someone confirmed to me I had fucked every woman on fab. It must therefore be true? |

"Will the new ones require photo ID ?
It would be a nice touch.
Do you have anything particular in mind? "
Already applies if one partner outside of Uk and both have to provide photo ID. Otherwise have to provide proof of identity, address., etc.
Come on guys and gals let’s move on and close this down |

That’s not my point and not wether I like or not. Please do of course discuss the merits there might be in proposing this. What is wrong is to give impression this is happening when evidentially it is not. That’s what is wrong |

You must lead a very sheltered life if at any time you believed what was posted.
When someone posts that the bar is open and invites orders, you must be very disappointed when your drink doesn’t arrive. |
