So, a month after being uploaded and appreciated by many people, one of our pictures has been rejected.

No details about why, just a note next to it which reads 'Rejected: Bit too rude for this site, sorry!'

The picture was both of us, walking away from the camera, along a railway line whilst nude. From checking the rules about photos, it seems the only reason is; Legal. The photo can't show any illegal activity.

The photo was taken at a foot crossing, defined by OS Maps, plus signs next to the line. In addition, it was taken on a day the trains were not running due to being on strike. There is nothing illegal or dangerous about the activity.

It was a full tip to toe body shot, so we were both definitely in it. Also, we were the only people in the picture, as it was taken at a remote location. We are both over 18. It is our picture, taken by us. Nobody is getting injured, or anything else 'nasty' - unless my saggy butt cheeks are offensive? There were no watermarks, or other text. There might be a bird flying past in the background, but we're unsure. It's a simple dot in the picture. Anyway, I doubt this is what's meant by 'No Pets/Animals'

This isn't a post to request advice, we're not going to try and reinstate the photo. A decade on this site has revealed it's usually fruitless trying to contact, liaise or engage with admin. Instead this post is for the person who reported it. Our inbox is open, so anyone can message. Had you expressed your concerns to us before reporting, we would have given you the information held here.

As it is, we'll just concentrate on uploading more funny or entertaining pictures in the coming weeks. If you find them not to your liking, be sure to hit that block button!

We have also had photos taken down for being too rude etc, usually about a month after posting, although they seemed fine to us if someone report's a photo it can get taken down. I would suggest reposting if you still have it to see what happens.

Technically, the UK doesn’t have any laws against trespassing.

P.S. it wouldn't let me put kid nappers so I had to put a space in between. I don't mean children sleeping just in case anyone is confused....

I have yet to figure what is too rude? In my humble opinion as long as it’s legal it should be allowed, last time I looked crossing a foot crossing on a rail line was legal and not trespass. However having not seen the picture I cannot comment.

After looking at your other pictures it sounds a cool pic

I don’t know the photo concerned or it’s location so I’m not commenting on that, I’m commenting on general railway safety.

Foot crossing are for crossing the railway only, cross from one side to other only when you have confirmed it’s safe to do so. Do not stop, do not stray from the foot crossing in either direction.

Train may run anytime of day or night whether there’s no advertised services or not. Freight trains, engineering trains and empty coaching stick can run even if there are no advertised services.

Many lines are electrified and will be energised 24/7 even on Christmas Day and Boxing Day. 3rd rail lines have 750volts DC passing through them and no shielding to protect you. Overhead line have 25kv and they can arc through as much as 9ft of open air. Overhead lines also have ground based equipment called track bonds that can also be live.

ALWAYS RESPECT THE RAILWAYS from your friendly local railway safety officer who’s been to one too many incidents in their life time

Except it wasn't in use, plus it was a defined and recognised foot crossing. As detailed in the original post. The path is well used, it even has a bin at the end of it for dog waste - that's how much it's used!

There is nothing in that legislation that limits the amount of time it takes us to cross, or how many times we can cross.

So the thread is for the person who reported the pic. What if it was more than one person? I don't have a problem in saying that the pics of you in public places naked are not for me as people could have seen. Maybe who ever reported it doesn't want to contact you for any explanation

It was a lovely photo. How do you know the railway wasn't in use? Was railway section formally closed? Just because there is a stike doesn't mean the railway is not in operation or that no trains will run at all. Did you assume the railway was closed for the day or did you confirm with the signaller/network rail that all opperations had been suspended? The only real case I can think of is when the parts of the network were fully closed down durring the evenings was due to signal staff walking out and that was ages ago.

Anyways you could argue all that till the cows come home. The main issue is how can the moderators or viewers know the railway was formally closed down for that period? And even if somehow you were able to tell them this and they believe you is it wise for the site to show what appears illegal and unsafe activity when there is nothing tangible to show/prove otherwise?

Anyway nice photo and I can see why your not happy it's been removed. However seems a fair cop and one to just take on the chin. I'm sure you'll make lots of lovely new photos not on the line side in future.

That’s a specific act. Ordinarily, for example posting a sign on the gate of a field saying “No trespassing” hasn’t any legal weight.

A spanking pic we posted got removed for the same reason - too rude for site.

I’ve seen plenty of pics much much more graphic and ruder…but there’s no point moaning as admin don’t look at it - there’s no appeals process.

I can see why yours would be removed as others may copy and I for one would never walk on a track as I wouldn’t know for certain if they are electrified or not.

To clarify a couple of points;

The tracks were DEFINITELY not in use. I used the network rail website to check for any running trains. We were picnicking in a field for about an hour beforehand, and no trains passed. In addition, we could see about 2 miles in each direction. It's a slow running line, not an inter city one.

It's not an electric railway. There are no overhead lines. All trains using the line are slow diesel engines.

Finally, just to reiterate. There is no argument about the photo being taken down. I'm sure from our profile, you'll see we're far too laid back to worry about it. This thread was pretty much to highlight how trigger happy some can be. We will always agree with reporting inappropriate behavior (such as people advertising drugs for sale in their status), but there was nothing inappropriate about our picture.

Oh, and we are always VERY careful when taking pictures in public places. We take as much care as possible to ensure we aren't seen. If we think there's a realistic possibility of being viewed from a window or passerby, we won't take the picture. We've turned away from far more photo locations than we have used them.

I had a photo rejected two years after I uploaded it. I guess someone with too much time on their hands reported it and someone with not enough time on their hands took it down without looking. I'm guessing the same photo mods that approve uploads of pictures of children and women on men's profiles.

Until you commit an offence,usually criminal damage.It has weight as a warning that someone should not be there without consent,there is no public right of way,CRoW or other public/private right of access.

Yes there are trespassing laws. There are also certain Right to Roam freedoms but it is very specific where those freedoms apply. Railway land is not one of them, neither is your back garden, or lots of other places.
