do you empty your fridge and freezer. Everytime I think I used nearly everything so I can defrost and clean, something else needs freezing. And on the subject of freezing, how adventurous are you with stuff that may have been there well over a year like a pack of sausages you froze or chips that passed their use by date by a year. You get my point? Use or lose? |

If you have a combined fridge/freezer, the best time to defrost it is right before you go on holiday.
You will likely already be using everything to in the fridge, and it's a good time to sort through your freezer at the same time. If it's over 3 months, just bin it. You're unlikely to use it in the next 3 months either!
Use salt to help speed up the defrosting, and a tip from Aggie MacKenzie and Kim Woodburn - use toothpaste to clean it when empty. It helps maintain the white, plus leaves your fridge smelling minty. |
