The Thing.

I watch it several times a year and never get bored of it. John Carpenter is a master of the genre.

When I was very young I read a short novella called "Who goes there?". I later discovered it was the...The Thing.

I do like a bit of horror. Not so much into the slasher movies but like an interesting horror. Visually I love "the cell" and "pans labyrinth" and the cenobytes from Hellraiser are awesome.

God I just love horror movies

So many! The Thing definitely. And Hellraiser, and The Shining, and a terrific French film called Martyrs (although it’s a real hard watch) the original Dawn of the Dead. And I really liked Doctor Sleep.

The Cell! I loved that movie for the visuals too! It looked incredible, like a Dali painting almost at points.

I’ve only seen the longer version, and by the time we get back to the Overlook it sent real chills down my spine. A really underrated movie.

I could be wrong but I'm sure I read somewhere that the idea was lovely based on the nazi physician Josef menegele who used to do experiments on prisoners

Of course, there's classics like The Thing and Alien, but I tend to return to individual favourite scenes.

Two which are stuck in my mind are the orgy scene in Society (moist body horror), and the psychiatric patient on the matress scene in Hellraiser II.

Is that where he slices himself up as he sees beetles on his skin? Hellraiser 2 was great in places but got daft later on could have been so much better such a missed chance

Loved classic like The Exorcist and visually The cell.

Uncomfortable viewing . Irreversible and The Martyrs.

Also Nil by Mouth . Not so much as horror but a horrendous current of violence running through it.

Conjuring for sure. Love the shining too though I wouldn't particularly add that to "scary" category.

If you are fine with TV shows, I will close my eyes and choose Mike Flanagan shows:

Haunting of the Hill House

Haunting of Bly Manor

Midnight Mass

Yes, that's the one.

I found it disturbing because (up until the skinless woman emerged from the matress) it was so 'real'.

Meaning that it's entirely possible there are poor souls like that, who would cut themselves up to that degree.
