To call someone a knobhead for parking across your drive?

Is there drive etiquette??

I'm tired, hungover, and I don't have a roast dinner and this is just the last straw.

Not so much calling them one as acknowledging them to be one. Like saying the sky is blue.

I believe the law is tricky one regarding this. Nob head is perhaps a softer choice of words in my opinion.

So if you said to them "I think you are a knobhead" its all good.

It's not illegal if there's no car to block in.the law is quite clear.

You can block a car getting into their drive but not getting out.you can also park in designated disabled bays too.

Whaley Bridge,Nr Buxton,

A mate cured a repeat offender by putting a breeze block on a towel on the bonnet with a note that said "next time there will be no towel"

"Cunt parking" down the side of the car in aerosol is also effective.

Make your own florescent Police Aware stickers, they work a treat.

If your driveway has a dropped kerb, it's illegal for them to park across it. 3 points and a fine, according to the law. You could phone it in to the 101 number - not sure you would get a swat team response though

In our previous house we were just a couple of houses away from a mini Tesco and a chipshop so it happened a lot. Me and my neighbour used to park our cars so close to their front and rear bumper so they couldn’t move their car. When they knocked and asked us to move them we would say when we are ready.

Ask who? Do you expect the OP to sit at the window watching and waiting for whoever owns the car to come back, then dash out to confront a potentially aggressive stranger in front of their own home? The police are a public service, and this is definitely one of those services they should provide.

If they have parked across your drive on the footpath it is a legitimate Police matter, perhaps not the most pressing thing they have to deal with at that moment but legitimate. Two issues, blocked footpath and "when is the only time you can lawfully drive on a footpath"? To gain access to property.

Ask a neighbour or two. If not see if it can be pushed out the way. You can't just phone the police straight away. It's like having a small bump in the car and phoning the police? You don't do it

highway code says dont park across peoples drives.

but in law that comment is worth nothing as its not policed enough.

you can only report it as blocking your access, when it should come with a fine if found to be doing so.

just think yourself lucky they didnt park on your drive as its a civil matter then and you still cant stop them from doing so.

unless you chain the drive gates up

They have to be caught driving off the footpath to catch the fine.

The police do turn a blind eye to parking on the kerb when it should come with a fine for doing so as footpaths are meant for people wheelchairs and prams.

on roads with only one side to park on then its down to police discreation its even harder for roads that are a single car to pass on.

drivers are left to park on each side of the pathway to park outside there house

also a police discreation and council discreation thing

its mostly down to buyers that buy in the wrong place and expect to park outside there house because they think they have a right to do so.

nope fines can be given by either the police or the council warden.

its just the council has decided to take it over as its a monetry game for them.

wardens dont work on a sunday or evenings unless its a game/concert event then you will find both the police there and wardens.

otherwise than that you wont see one of them

If you later figure out it's the wrong spelling... you have to come back, cross the word out and correct it

I can spell! "

I'm tired, hungover, and I don't have a roast dinner and this is just the last straw.

Not at all. Although it could be worth considering if these actions are going to discourage said driver from doing it again or encourage them.

Pretty sure it's a one off, there's an event on and even though there's huge signs saying event parking they obviously decided to be a knob.

"

Leave a note on the car saying "Mme/Mr Knobhead, by parking here you have deprived me of a Sunday roast and all the trimmings(with wine).

I hereby give notice of a fine of the amount of £28.29 in lieu of my Sunday dinner.

Cash only, in an envelope through my lettebox.

Signed

Pissed off and hungry.

If you have a cat the pisses on cue, pop them on the bit where the air intakes are and get them to filler-up. If you don't have a cat that can piss on cue, dairy finding it's way down there works wonders too.

I believe the etiquette is to cover the windscreen with shaving foam and write 'cunt' in it.

"I'm tired, hungover, and I don't have a roast dinner "

This being Sunday, the first two are reasonable; the third is a crime against humanity.

I send you a virtual roast chicken, stuffed with garlic and lemon and with perfectly crisp skin, accompanied by goose fat roast potatoes, home made stuffing and gravy, and a side order of freshly podded peas. Any forumites in need are welcome to help themselves.
