Currently involved in debates about a week away that gives the best mix of sun and relaxation but on a budget of say £1,000-£1,200 each max.
Most of the Caribbean is out on cost alone and those that aren't such as Domincan, Cuba and Mexico, aren't appealing.
Egypt and Dubai are out.
Madeira, Canary Islands, Tunisia, Morocco and mainland Europe apparently 'aren't hot enough'
So where else is there ?
Bearing in mind flights would be from Manchester not London so usually less of them and more expensive.
All I'm coming back with is Gambia or Cape Verde.
Any other ideas ? |

Goa is great. Try to get a direct flight and the extra legroom upgrade is worth it for this one.
And you get 5 star treatment from a shack on the beach so consider a 3 or 4 star - just check out the re_iews first!
It's a waste to stay in the hotel and grounds all the time. Hire a taxi (not from directly outside the hotel, prices drop just down the street) and go to a different beach each day - make arrangements with the same driver and haggle, you'll have the use of the driver all day for a ridiculous amount!

Just out of interest - why does the Dominican not appeal?
we are BIG champions of it.
If you are looking for "female" entertainment - Sosua - a town - 20 min drive from Puerto Plata air port is great fun.
You can find female company for the night for around £40 - or for a few hours about £20. |

I went to Gambia about 10-15 years ago. Lovely country and lovely people, did get quite a bit of hassle (not aggressive jut a lot of hawkers) but at that time there was only around 5 hotels and Western tourists were still very much a novelty.
It is very, very cheap and some of the finest food I've ever eaten. |
