Would you go on a bad holiday?

Would you go on a holiday you knew was going to be bad?
I was just thinking back to my last holiday abroad (believe it or not - 2012). I’d been going out with someone and had one cheap holiday in Spain for a week which went well, so we booked another one in Tunisia for a couple of months later. During that time she turned into a horrible, miserable bitch that made me feel bad about myself.
By the time the holiday rolled around, I had decided that I didn’t want to go out with her anymore. But (despite not wanting to book another holiday at all, due to my tight funds) I had paid for everything up front and it was non-refundable.
So, I had the choice of not going and forfeiting the money and a chance for some sunshine; or going but knowing I’d probably have a shit time.
I went.
I had a shit time.
We broke up the day we got back.
Would you have gone? |

In a ball gown because that's how we roll in N. Devon |
I've done that. Almost exactly that.
It was shit. I was miserable. And we didn't break up because I didn't have the confidence to do that. I wish I had.
I'll never do it again. I hope |

Depends on your definition of bad I guess? Went on holiday to the Middle East (Israel) back in the 1980’s, knew it was a boiling pot, but it was a place I wanted to visit so off I went…….
Ended up spending part of the time dodging bombs and bullets, bad?? Not sure…… it was definitely memorable |

No, can't think of anything worse than being stuck with someone horrible for a week. |

Lol, no, was a bit hairy at the time, but now look back fondly on the experience and chalk it up as a holiday enjoyed and well survived …….. and, to be fair, I think I’d rather dodge real bullets |

I'd have gone.
But I'd have hidden a small bag of persil in her suitcase and then tipped off the guys at security.
By the time she got through check in the plane would have left and I'd be holidaying alone.
She'd probably have enjoyed the rubber glove search though, so all's good.

Oh, you devious bastard!!! I love it and wish I had thought of that. I could have done a week in Tunisia on my own |

"What do you think made her change towards you?"
In fairness, I don’t think she changed. It was that age old phenomenon of getting to know someone better and uncovering the layers. 2-3 months in is when you start to get to know the real person underneath the online dating persona.
She was one of the most rude, self-absorbed people I’ve ever met. |

I had a similar experience a few years back.
The day of the flight I just wanted to come home and not go.
I went, mainly because I felt obliged and the money had been spent, but it was one of the worst holidays I’ve ever had.
So, looking back would I have gone? Evidence points to yes.
Would I go now,? Absolutely not. |
