I'm not talking about the unwashed penises of fab, but the apparent rise of people not washing their clothes, or washing them less.
I read these articles about it and was just fascinated
theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2023/jun/20/the-no-wash-movement-would-you-wear-underpants-for-a-week-without-cleaning-them
theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2023/jun/21/can-you-wear-sweaty-gym-clothes-twice-how-to-join-the-no-wash-revolution
I understand not washing bras very often as you'll ruin them. Jeans and trousers too if they're not visibly dirty or smelly. I'm possibly more relaxed about dirt on clothes after having small children. But underwear only gets worn once for me. And after he's been to the gym there's no way I'm letting my husband wear his clothes again without washing them.
Also I can't see any mention of bedding or towels in either article.
Just wanted to hear other thoughts really |

I throw everything in the wash once I’ve worn it apart from my bra and sometimes jumpers if they aren’t dirty. I definitely wouldn’t wear underwear more than once. |

Invest in some good bra bags. They make a *huge* difference. All the elastic underwear goes in a mesh bag for us too. |

Nothing better than clean clothes and bedding. I would change my bed daily if had time and wasn't bad for the environment. Slipping in to a crisp sweet smelling bed is luxe on the cheap!
If I visit for a meet I try to get a quick look at the bed and if not up to standard then no way...often why hotels are a good bet...first night / day stays only of course! |

No, I wash a lot and will continue to do so.
Bedding at least weekly, often more. Same with towels.
Knickers and socks, t shirts and leggings dresses etc one day, or one nights worth of wear and wash.
Jumpers and jeans slightly less, depending on what activity was done while worn! |

I am trying to wash clothes less. Fibres from washing synthetic fabrics are significant contributors to micro-plastic pollution, the long term effects of which are not known but not likely to be good or even benign. So natural fibres where possible and minimal washing for where it’s not. Sniff test or dirty test for me. If it’s not smelly or dirty, don’t wash it. Clothes last longer too. |

That link takes me to a spray tan advert!
Jeans and jumpers I can cope with not washing after each use. But underwear??? T-shirts, too, would be humming if I wore them more than once. Especially in the right armpit, which is more "ripe" than my left one for some reason

Really? How odd. I did check both links before posting them. If you Google guardian no wash movement you should find the articles "
I did. Just about to read it. I'm prepared to be horrified... |

I’ve been doing this a long time , I spot clean and use Day-2 anti bacterial spray. If something smells or is dirty and needs washing I’ll wash it, but if doesn’t I want.
I spend a lot of money on clothes ,and dint like replacing them, so last thing I want to do is wear them out by over washing |

My machines are never off! Underwear, shirts/tops, tights daily, towels and bedding weekly, blankets monthly or more often as needed. Duvets, pillows, cushions, curtains, coats, schoolbags etc every season for deep clean. I get wrecked in work so I change daily. Kids have clothes and towels destroyed in hair dye and make up which means soaking and hand scrubbing and pre-washes. Honestly laundry takes up far too much of my time but I adore the smell so much!
I don’t iron though, if it can’t be dewrinkled in the tumble dryer I don’t buy it |

A sad necessarity for many now
I definitely re-wear items.. But undies are clean every day.. I do have hundreds tho so if i don't have enough for a wash, i won't run out
Honestly i wouldn't dream of re-wearing gym clothes, I'd be too conscious of other people thinking i might smell |

"If people are wearing the gym clothes unwashed the next day then they aren't training hard enough.
It's not for me but each to their own."
Gym clothes should still be wet the next day otherwise they are only going to text whilst sitting on equipment - pet hate!!
Lush pics btw!! |

"You people are nuts. My washing machine gets used about once every three weeks, on average."
Do you do hand washing and spot cleaning in between using the washing machine like in the articles? |

I was raised by a parent with severe OCD it’s ingrained in me to wash lots.
Clothes get worn once then washed. I can wear multiple pairs of pants in a day gym underwear, work underwear, date underwear it all only gets worn once.
Bed linen if just me sleeping in it gets washed weekly. If I’m doing lots of fuckery with one human then twice weekly washes . If I’m doing fuckery with multiple humans then after each individual has visited.
Towels are used for 2 days, flannels only 1 day.
I wash sofa covers and curtains every 6 months.
I lived with a friend for 1 year.
In that year she washed her bed linen 4 times.
She washed clothes maybe 1-2 times a month.
I really struggled with her lack of washing things.

I’m with you! It’s just simply a case of good hygiene, and good smelling sheets! x |

Er, nope. Two to three weeks is about the amount of time it takes me to generate one load. |

"I can’t tollerate those that try to sell their laziness as an eco choice"
Same as the scruffy oinks that refuse to mow their grass and let it over grow on the pretence that it attracts bees.
Just an excuse to be a scruff. |

Fresh boxers every morning and a clean work shirt after a shower at least every other day depending on what I have been getting upto. Bedsheets every weekend and work trousers twice a week. I’m always at work so any of my casual clothes will be worn once and then washed |

Think we wash stuff far more than we need to! Back in the day Monday was wash day with the copper and mangle! One of my daughters generates so much washing when she moves out the washing machine will sigh in relief! X |

I tend to wash things as they need it, undies obvs get 4 days. Inside, outside back and front.
Gym kit and underwear wear once and wash, jeans as required, shirts go on a time sort of thing.
Unless the climate has been shall we say close, a shirt is good for 8 hours of wear, be that 8 hours solid or 4 lots of two hours. |

Grass doesn't attract bees, flowers do.
And you'd hate my house. In addition to sane levels of laundry I haven't cut my grass in weeks! It's covered in beautiful flowers, bees, butterflies and caterpillars. And frankly I care more about them than what some random dog walker thinks of my lawn. |

Well you could always replace your grass with roses and various flowers and plants to attract insects etc. a beautiful outdoor space could be created.
Then again you could just leave it to look like an overgrown mess.
You have to live there, so it’s your choice. |

Bedding twice a week and vacuum the mattress. This partly to help with my partners allergy
Towels from showering daily ,hand towels normally every 3 days
fresh pants and undies and t-shirt after a shower which i do twice a day more a habit from when i was working in construction and often came home sweaty and dirty.
jeans depends on if hot weather and how long i worn them.
Shirts normally after wearing them twice.
I did read somewhere that people was washing clothes less than they used after the smoking ban as their clothes no longer stink of cigerette smoke after being where people smoked indoors

Knickers, socks, t-shirts and work shirts get washed after 1 wear.
Can usually get 2 days out of work trousers.
All other clothes will depend on whether they look or smell dirty.
Bedding usually 1-2 weeks depending on how much I'm home.
Usually use 2 bath and 1 hand towel which get washed weekly. |
