Do you look or act your age?

The question is easy.
When I was younger I would have thought my age was ancient, (that’s a kids mindset right there) but now I’m here at the back end of 40’s, I was so wrong. I still have my youth, and someone gave me a wonderful compliment telling me I don’t look/act as old as I am or appear.

"Used to think 30 was old when young! Now at 66 next month I must be ancient! But no have never acted my age! I'm still 16 in my mind! Often get told I don't look my age x"
It’s a feeling isn’t it? I’m still early 20s. I think that’s when I matured. …
Yes, I said I matured!!!!! |

I reckon I look about 30, and I'm nearing 39.
As for acting my age? I've always been sensible (or dull), so maybe I've always acted older than I am. I'm fine with that. Late 30s does seem a sensible time to start swinging too |

I usually get told I look older than I am
And I usually get told I act older than I am.
I think the forums are one of the few places I am really playful. In most of my life I’m extremely serious or ‘mature’ . |

I’m told I don’t look my age at all when I meet people. They may be lying of course and I look like a reanimated corpse being used as a ventriloquist’s dummy.

From the neck up I look older working outdoors in all weathers lost life isn’t good for looking youthful haha
From the neck down I don’t look old at all I have no signs of aging except for the odd grey chest hair which I try to remember to pull out could probably pass for loads younger from neck down.
Act it no not at all haha I like carrying on on not taking things serious |

Most definitely don’t act my age… not to say I’m
Childish but I just love doing exiting and adventurous stuff. Life’s about adventure and living your best life… if that means I’m acting younger than my age then so be it.
I do t think I look much younger though lol |

A lot of people think I look younger than I am but even from my early twenties, I was told I was mature for my age... I think they meant boring but I thought it was a compliment |

I look and act about right I reckon. Some think I'm a couple years younger.
I went to a comedy club the other month and the compère asked who feels their age? 90% of the room said they felt younger - I was in the 10% that felt my age! |

Joints are reminding me I'm getting older.. however... my toys have just gotten bigger and don't feel much older than when I was 18!
I feel wiser certainly! |

It's a bit weird for me, when I was in my teens and 20s people always thought I looked older than I was, when I got to my 30s and now 40s people think I look younger than I am.
I act my age when I'm around strangers, but with people I'm comfortable around I'm like a big kid. |

People generally underestimate my age by about 10 years. I don’t really know how I am supposed to act? I’m still very fit and active and not ready for my pipe, slippers and cardigan yet… |

Even at my age I still try to keep up with the young lads that I train with ! They don’t see me have to have a bath to ease the aches and pains or the fact I sometimes have to have an old man’s half hour !! |

People are generally surprised when they find out my age. I've got quite nice skin from my total sun aversion.
When I was younger people thought I was older and now I'm older people think I'm younger. I have no idea what the age rules are tbh. |

Without a beard I look far too young. With the beard I still look younger than I am. The grey in my beard is the only thing that hints towards me being close to 40,even then most never seem to guess - though they may be polite and nice.
As for how I act... I don't think I act like my age or any other age. I tend to flip flop from childish to grumpy old man. I don't even know how I'm supposed to act for my age. |

I've personally never come across anyone who I thought were 10 years older or younger than they are. When I take a picture with my mates we all look around the same age.
I think many think of their parents at the same age. And think I'm more youthful than them. But it's not really a fair comparison. I'm from a family of farmers and I've worked indoors most my life. Of course my skin is less wrinkled. |

I've always been told I look younger than I am and quite often shocked people with my age and the fact I have as many kids as I do and their ages in relation to mine.
I refuse to grow up, I think at the moment I'm doing things I would have done when I was younger and living more than ever.
You're as young as the person you feel though right? |

Yes I do look and act my age. However there are certain characteristics associated with age that are just stereotypes, people of any age can possess them but such is the aversion to being old we say anyone displaying those characteristics is acting old.
I'm just me at 66 years old. Line me up with 100 other 66 year old women and we'll all look different but we'll all still be 66 and we'll all act like 66 year olds.

I agree. Sometimes people look at photos of me in my twenties and say that I dress more fashionably now than I did then. Well of course I do! I was 20 in 1976 |

I think I look in my 30s - perhaps not 38 most people say I look around 32 which I’ll happily take.
I have maturity and can act my age when the situation requires it, that said I enjoy being silly with someone, having the ability to bring myself down to the mindset of my young nephews when entertaining them and still having that free spirited approach to life.

I was told I look 30 by a lady at work a couple of weeks ago which I was very happy with
I definitely don’t act the way I thought people in their 40’s act when I was a teenager but I was young and foolish. Having more fun now than I have ever had and the kids keep my young. My body makes me feel about 90 some days though

Baby faced here so its probably a turn off for some and an on for others!!!
In terms of acting, I probably have an older sort of sensibility ( love the older comedies, movies, bands etc).
Getting awfully fed up of being ID'ed though |

Pictures of me in my 20's
I guess I don't get why looking younger is the go to compliment. I like faces what look like they've lived. I think lots of people have been sucked in by the beauty industry, 9 out of 10 people said their skin looked younger. It's all about their profit. My best friends dad is in his 80's and looks in his 80's and he doesn't give a flying monkeys about it. Though to be fair last time I visited he was on top of the roof shouting a conversation to me which he couldn't hear my replies as he didn't have his hearing aids in. To me he's one of the most youthful people I know. I think youthfulness is an attitude not how you look. |

I agree with that more than I can possibly express.

People tell me I look a lot younger than 37, but I think the eye bags are starting to undo that. I've always been mentally much more mature so I've probably got the mental outlook of a middle aged woman. I physically feel about 95 |
