Did you have braces, as a kid?

Or as an adult, for that matter?

How long for and are you glad?

I had them when I was about 14ish for 18months. Proper train tracks and they were horrible. Don’t know what my teeth would look like had I not had them. They’d probably look better now if I’d actually worn my retainer occasionally

Not braces but I had a retainer for a while in high school. I just remember it being agony and I eventually stopped wearing it. My teeth weren’t that bad to begin with i don’t think so I’m not even sure why I had to have one.

No but I wish I did. Also on adult women , they are so hot, seems every woman in the office has them now.

Nope. I was supposed to, but then had retained milk teeth (till I was 14) and then one adult tooth didn't erupt. By the time they'd decided not to attempt to pull down the unerupted tooth, I'd ages out of the waiting list for NHS orthodontics. I have a front tooth gap as big as Madonna's, plus the missing upper incisor. But, I have zero fillings or any other dental work and so I am pleased they didn't subject me to invasive surgery to make my mouth suitable for braces because I don't think my overall dental health would have remained as good. Having gaps is better than broken teeth/cavities from the wires and bits sitting in your teeth.

Once the braces have pulled your teeth into perfect alignment, the train tracks are discarded. But your teeth move back unless you wear the little plastic retainer they give you. It’s like a mouth shield but thin, clear plastic. I used to find it annoying to wear so never did. Teeth are still straight ish but not perfect (like the rest of me)

No, my dentist said my top teeth would straighten out on their own, they never did. I have thought about doing something about them recently, it really annoys me in pics

No, but then my wisdom teeth grew in causing a bit of crowding. I'd like to try Invisalign but it's a bit spenny

I was offered braces at about age 10... they were designed to help reduce my overbite by pulling my bottom jaw forward.

I didn't get them.

Sometimes I think about what I'd look like had I gone for it.

Just didn't want to start secondary school with a massive set of braces.
