I think it’s a great idea. Now weirdos won’t have to wank I’m the street, they can just sit in the public toilet and wait for fresh meat/ victims to be delivered to them.

Yes. Been saying it for ages. They are all over the place abroad, especially in Europe.

People missed the point I think. A gender neutral public toilet is essentially a cubicle (for one) that opens into the street. In the cubicle is everything you need (toilet, wash basin etc). Not about pervs sitting in there “waiting for fresh meat”.

Keep single sex multi person toilets.

Have unisex toilets where there is on toilet in a room and everyone else has to wait outside.

People should have the option. Some people don't feel comfortable being vulnerable with the other gender for reasons too horrific to force them to accept.

They are ok yes. Many places in Europe have them

No issues ..

Not sure I would make them standard but certainly public ran places should them them as option. Also helps with queue issues

At work we have a mixture of Male, Female and Unisex toilets for at least the past 10 years that I've been there and it hasn't caused any issues but it may be a different case where no alternatives are provided.

I guess the benefit of unisex toilets is that Trans people dont have a dilemma when they want to use the bathroom. I cant think of any other benefit to them other than cost savings.

No, but definitely where able add one or two neutral but male & female should have the option of separate toilets & only people with the relevant genitals use the correct ones.

Nothing has changed in this world, we all know what a real man & real woman is. Anything else is pretending.

I don't like the idea.

Now fair enough, throw them in the mix with male and female so people have an option but I would not feel safe using a gender neutral toilet unless it was a private locked room.

You mean like the bathroom in everyone's house?

It's become common in London for bathrooms to be gender neutral and it's fine, they're usually nicer bathrooms.

The hysteria around it is absolute silly bollocks.

You've all used gender neutral bathrooms.

I think it's bizarre as a nation that we share pretty much every environment with the opposite sex without getting attacked. But the second we talk about toilets, everyone becomes a sexual predator.

I can't help but feel there is a lot of projection involved.

The only though I have in a bathroom is to finish and leave the bathroom with as little eye contact as possible.

I think it's about privacy, it's pretty silly but unsurprising someone goes to warp mode/bleeding heart by mentioning sexual predators but it's your diversion tactic.

As you also say we share pretty much every environment but you forget the ones we don't share & that's the issue here.

As a man I completely agree, can't comment on ladies toilets but Gents loo's in services are often horrendous.

I make a point of thanking the cleaner's if I see one, a truly thankless task.

My cleaning teams would like to share some of the horrendous and vile things they have come across left by women in the women's toilets over the years.

"professional" adults working in an office building.

Some of the things I've never even seen in public toilets.

This.

Pretty much every disabled toilet in the world is gender neutral. No-one seems concerned that women on wheels have to wait for men (who may be on foot) to come out, walk past us etc so we can use the accessible loo. But there's not a mass outbreak of disabled toilet users being mølested. Men, women and non-binary people manage to stand and wait in close proximity for other reasons, get in lifts or use car parks in dark corners, usually without issue. It's not to say problems will never happen because that's plainly ludicrous, but if a man is dead set on harming a woman in a toilet, what is stopping him doing it now? Someone with that intention won't give a shit that the door says "ladies" with a stereotypical picture on it. They can still go inside and do whatever they intend to do.

This is exactly what a gender neutral toilet is supposed to be. Toilet, washbasin, floor to ceiling walls, floor to ceiling door with proper lock. Basically exactly the same as the gender neutral toilet you have in your home, or in any small business that only has a single toilet.

Many objections are made along the lines of "men leave toilets in a disgusting state". However (a) some ladies also leave toilets in a disgusting state, (b) this is an issue of proper toilet training, not gender.

it's just one of easily accessible hot button issues that incites division. Very quickly the debate switches focus from toilets to predators.

Surely all single use toilets are gender neutral, like the ones in small restaurants with a sink inside them. If you took all toilets and made them like that the conversation wouldn't be controversial at all.

If the plan is to support only one or two people at a time, it already works that way. The problem is when you increase the number of people.

Men's toilets in big spaces have the concept of urinals which saves time, real estate and also water for men who just want to pee. And then there is the wash basin area which men and women typically use for different purposes.

If we go the gender neutral toilets route, you will have to build cubicles with each cubicle being able to support needs of people from all genders.

So unless you have enough space and resources to build a huge cubicles like that with all the amenities, it is just wasteful.

The current system works. It saves space and gives people the privacy they need. I don't know why people want to change it.
