Most branded clothes. The quality difference between them and Primark or other cheaper clothes is massive. |

Can't deny the quality with some brands but whether they're worth the money has to be debatable... I find myself reluctant to feed into brands and paying the extra premium beyond quality but for name. |

I understand their appeal. They have a niche and they are really good at what they do. I'll probably get a mac mini this year.
I was IT support for a mixed network. Macs are like satellites, up they go and they just keep working. |

I’d second that and say premium-brand tyres generally (car, bike, or other) are what it’s about. Cheap tyres are the ultimate false economy, as many people discover during the first heavy rain! |

Brands that become industry standards are usually there for a reason. They're probably more niche than mainstream brands though.
In my industry it's ARRI, 100% worth the brand name.

Proper luxury brand clothes are worth the price, as long as its not displaying a logo. If you buy logo brand clothes your just buying crap / cheaply made tat with an advertising board on it. A discrete label out of sight is fine. |

Yes they're expensive and the prices have really gone up (but getting slightly more sensible), but they hold their value so much better than other vans/campers, and if you look after them they just go on and on. A friend has one that has done 600,000 miles, still going. |

If I could be an investor, it would be the NHS and BBC.
NHS: A brand that is defended regardless of its performance, Shit loads of money squandered and still a post code lottery and NICE deciding if you have access to modern medicine or timely diagnosis for cancer etc. And if you think the politicians don’t have private medical aid, you need a strong coffee.
Another one would be the BBC. Obligatory TV license for them to constantly market them selves (“No adverts on the BBC”… what BS, they spend a fortune promoting themselves.) and make 2 or 3 great shows and then a load of shit! No free market choice for us to say, “This is crap, I will switch my subscription.” High salaries and sycophants protecting people like Jimmy Savile in his day and the politically correct gobshites that we have today petrified of providing a balanced view on a topic allowing overly right wing news agencies to set up to provide an extreme view in stead of a sensible middle ground debate.
End of rant but brands the are untouchable are dangerous.

I love my iphone but i do think the technology on some of the android stuff is better , cameras particularly. However the ease of putting old phone beside new phone and it sets itself up means i probably wont ever change.
In terms of user experience i hate itunes , i hate the locked down elements, i hate the apps that come with the phone taking up space and wont let you delete. I have no desire to branch out into the rest of the apple-sphere. I dont need the power , longevity or creative elements of a mac so would much rather have a windows model at a third of the price |

Usually any sort of winter clothing has to be well made so a brand is usually better.
Not sure if it counts but there’s something special about M&S shirts, or Charles Tyrwhitt shirts! Never fade or fall apart

None. Of course there’s nice things but none of it is worth the money. That’s whole basis of big brands - create demand and sell for much more than they’re worth |

"Audi. Or Charles Thwyritt"
I’ll give you Charles Thwyritt, but with a few exceptions Audi absolutely not. There is nothing underneath that you can’t get in a Skoda, Seat or VW for less… you’re just paying for the brand without any added value. |

They're not overpriced though- paid £1250 for mine, work mate has just spent £1500 on a similar spec gaming PC.
My last Macbook lasted 10 years until the screen ribbon in the hinge gave up- still got £200 for it second hand from somebody who could be bothered to do the repair and might still be going now.
Pretty much any PC based laptop would have been landfill years before that and painfully slow. Its not mandatory to buy in to the fanaticism, which is no different to the Star Wars/Marvel/Harry Potter /Football brigade.
Theres a reason why Macs were the only sensible choice for media/design professionals until roughly the Millennium, as it PC's that long to join the party with anything equivalent. |

"Sony products are usually pretty dependable, I've been using their smartphones for years and not one bit of trouble. "
I dislike Sony as they focus on tech rather than UX. my RX100 camera was a bad choice for that reason , boasting a Carl Zeiss® Vario-Sonnar lens, good specs, but awful to operate on the street. |
