"Eh? What’s happened? I’ve been asleep!"
A hotdog wants to raise awareness of more vegan friendly choices. They are stamping feet all the way to the square in protest. It could result in more hotdogs for everyone, a ban on private parties or agreement on salad options. |

Anyone find this amazing. The Beeb are saying old Prigozhin has marched 24,000 half shot troops, over 370 miles from military base Rostov-on-Don (very posh), to another military base Voronezh, seizing it in more or less 12hrs. They are only 300 miles from Moscow.
Imagine 24,000 people hiking it from London to Glasgow

I think given media controls and restrictions on speech in Russia, plus their post truth method of putting information out, it's hard for anyone to say. Ethical journalists will also have trouble piecing this together I imagine. |

I'm assuming he's toast and his fortune will be appropriated. Putin is so heavily protected, he's primarily safe. But the Wagner leader, he can be taken out, despite the usefulness of his forces

I’m not so sure of that. Russian regular forces are conscripts v Wagner professionals. Estimates are Russia needs to match Wagner 3 or 4 to 1, so pulling at least 50,000 from Ukraine. And I doubt a Russian army has the will to fight Wagner and Ukraine simultaneously |

1 in 4 of the army fighting in Ukraine already in wagner anyway and I imagine most of the others don't want to be fighting anyway.
This really could be the beginning of the end hopefully |

The sense of this I'm getting is that this is the beginning of the end of Putin - whether or not Prigozhin succeeds.
It's a clear indication that Putin no longer has a monopoly on state control or legitimacy. But it might be a long time - maybe up to years - for it to come apart. |

I'm hoping for minimal fallout - and I mean that in the metaphorical sense, not just in terms of nuclear fallout.
I don't think Putin's regime ending will ever be a peaceful proposition. |

According to BBC, one of Prigozhin’s complaints is that the regular Russian army are too soft and should be using tactical nuclear weapons.
I really hope this destabilises Putin so he’s ousted, but what do we get instead!!!
Scary times!

Well this is a day in history. For machine guns and trenches to start being dug on the outskirts of Moscow - Putin leaving and countries closing boarder, the next few hours could see a mercenary walking the halls of the Kremlin. The only good thing I've heard him say is there were no Nazis in Ukraine.. so unsupportive of the war just taking the pay. |

Sadly, he seems to be very supportive of the war. He describes Ukrainians in occupied Ukraine as “genetically Russian.” He seems to believe the war is just, but not being prosecuted hard enough. He wants MORE violence.

One of the commentators I follow suggests that something might have happened behind the scenes that meant that Prigozhin knew that his days were numbered no matter what - so this is a suicide mission (because it's unlikely to succeed).
It's not clear, though, and it's just a hypothesis at the moment. |

Another dynamic I hadn't considered - different commentator - is that most coups are relatively bloodless, because the opposing sides don't want to hurt what basically amounts to their brothers.
Might complicate the picture, if the Russian army concede (despite their stronger position) in order to avoid bloodshed. |

For sure. We'll see how it plays out.
I don't think I have any special knowledge here - just curated sources I've been following for awhile. The point about coups came from one I very much respect. Whether it's transferrable to this situation is yet to be seen. Just - different angles to the issue |

"Well. It shows that if you play with fire, you'll get burned. Never trust a mercenary!
Thing is... He wants to use nukes. Sometimes better the devil you know
True, this dude is way worse.
Best have that sex now.
Don't say that, I haven't even got lube for a wank and I'll have to shag Marg from a few doors down
Now's the time to go and ask that lovely lady from the corner shop
She better be working, I'll just say there's a big chance of a nuke going off so we should get it on now
Cracking chat up line, it has to be said
I reckon I got my own nuke ready to explode for her
Follow up chat up line is also strong
I reckon she'd be putty in a instant, either that or I'm getting a slap "

"Another dynamic I hadn't considered - different commentator - is that most coups are relatively bloodless, because the opposing sides don't want to hurt what basically amounts to their brothers.
Might complicate the picture, if the Russian army concede (despite their stronger position) in order to avoid bloodshed.
That Chechen bloke has already said he'll defend Putin if needed, that baldy boyo has stabbed him in the back.
For sure. We'll see how it plays out.
I don't think I have any special knowledge here - just curated sources I've been following for awhile. The point about coups came from one I very much respect. Whether it's transferrable to this situation is yet to be seen. Just - different angles to the issue"
I think you cant tell my understanding of all of this by use of baldy boyo and Chechen bloke. Just pleased someone understood it |

"Well this is a day in history.
Yes it's definitely going to be interesting to see what happens when the reach Moscow, I did like he said that Ukraine wasn't actually run by terrorists and it was a war and not a special military operation like they're being told.
He's still definitely not a nice guy though but at least he's got some big balls waltzing upto Moscow
I was just about to correct that as just read an update where he said he was for the use of more tactical weapons in Ukraine. Russia's top brass were against this. He might just be a madman who wants power at all costs.
Putin was about to have him killed so he thought screw it I reckon "
They were mates not so long ago. Putin brought him on board because he made good hot dogs for the army. He was a small time businessman before that and woman beater. Hardly some military genius, but then Adolf started out as a house painter… |

"Rostov was where the russian ultra nationalists that are fighting for UKR attacked a few weeks back.
But UKR would be wise to watch and wait. This could be all smoke and mirrors"

"Prigozhin is going to Belarus!?
Where in due course he'll probably fall out of a hotel window..
Grand old Duke of York springs to mind.."
Lukashenko perhaps? I can’t help but feel Belarus is a way to appease Prigozhin |
