They are cutting trees down here like there's no tomorrow! It's what they do here and they replant and such, but it always makes me feel slightly sad seeing the older trees felled. x |

Nope, they don't grow it there, but they select and blend the beans and roast it at a low temperature for slightly longer. Makes it less bitter. Of course, you can roast coffee wherever you fancy  x |

They're faster growing pines so I've no idea how long they've been here, but they are pretty big and hearing them crack before they fall is a sad sound. Always makes me think about the history they've lived through. But at least they replant I guess x |

Seeeeeeeee I think it's cheating to call anything XYZ coffee (other beverages are available) if it's merely processed/packaged in that place. These Alpine sorts are dragging kilos of coffee over from South America or African countries and then faffing with it and then sending it all the way back from whence it came, in some cases! Why not roast in Ecuador or Kenya or wherever?
Perhaps the Colombian coffee exporters could do a deal with the folks that send out the marching powder, share a container and reduce the costs all round. Why am I not in charge of import/export policy?! |
