Ooh, better and harder question than the king one.

For me it's down to three, Aretha Franklin, Dusty Springfield or Etta James. Probably Etta for me, fucked up druggy for most of her career but wow what a talent.

In general, I don't like female singers, especially warblers or screachers like Maria Carey and their ilk.

I love a female singer with genuine passion who can belt out a song. So for me its Aretha, Dusty or Tina Turner
