Do professional looking pictures put people off?
Jump to: Newest in thread
Hi everyone, happy Tuesday x
A quick question. Do professional looking pictures put people off?
I have been a photographer for nearly 30 years, and love photographing people. Obviously this spills over into our Fabs pictures.
Sometimes I post very natural pictures taken from my phone, sometimes we go out somewhere and take daring pictures, and sometimes I put the effort in to take professional looking images.
I think the later get the least fabs.
In your opinion what do you prefer xx

You all have some lovely pictures x
We enjoy taking the pictures, we do them for us. But we use Fabs as a guide of what is popular, and find it a thrill to show them off to people. I suppose some people get a thrill from dogging, we get ours from showing off our naked pictures lol xxx |

Doesn't put us off.
But the Fab conundrum is that many 'professional' photographers have horrendous images that look like they were taken using a potato and pringles tube as a lens and many amateur togs take visually stunning images.
There's usually little correlation between status and results.
And many a good photo can be taken on a smartphone these days.
Just post as you wish, rather than to appeal to any particular demographic. You can't control what people like so not worth trying. Some are just happy to see boobies....

/checks profile Fantastic photos, it's immediately obvious you know what your doing with a camera and post processing
Most people don't, they rely on the camera ai, stick on a filter and job's a good un.
But do professional looking photos put people off, I don't think so, but know people...... There's a few people here with photos better than others, not necessarily professionally shot but definitely a good eye.
Your photos are a great advertisement for you imo. |

Thank you very much. Like I said I post all different kinds of images. Some are taken with my 8 year old phone.
I try to show honest and clear images, then people see what they are getting.
Louise gets very horny whilst being photographed, so it's a win win situation xx

If fabs are your yardstick, I think you should bear in mind who fabs and who doesn't.
If it rocks your world, don't worry too much about pleasing others. |

Love the pictures. We really like professional looking ones at times as it shows the effort is there.
Will add one thing is get the wanting fabs on your pictures for acceptance out of your head. Let's try and not measure fabs as a way of how much you have appeased others and post the pictures you enjoy for others to look at and enjoy |

Possibly from the perspective of suspecting that they may have been taken from the web, if you get where I'm coming from.
The old 'if it looks too good to be true' argument, especially as there are a lot of people who come on fab setting up fake profiles with puctures taken from the web.
But, if you're photo verified, it shouldn't be a problem |

You're the first person to say that, and it makes me wonder if people think that.

Your photos are great. Please yourselves first and foremost; forget about which pics are most popular because you can't and won't please everyone. I've seen many stunning photos on here with very few fabs and many more taken with the aforementioned potato and pringles tube do exceptionally well |

Most of my photos I try to make look as good as possible, love photography but I'm a single guy and don't get many fabs anyway.
I'd say personally I like to see photos that show effort and not a obvious quick snap and that will do |

I always like to see images with some thought put into them.
I paint and love art and photography myself. Unfortunately I struggle with my photographs a bit. I often use photographs to create paintings though and with painting being a slower process I find it easier to manipulate the whole image and make it work as a composition.
I do love seeing photographs taken by people with a real photographic talent though…. So in my opinion make them as professional as you like |

It's a tough one, any photos that look really professional could have any kind of touch ups so although they look great as a photo, it can look different from the real thing.
However, I have to say that you've done a great job on yours OP as they don't look overly filtered and still look very realistic and natural. It's a tough balance to get but I'd rather have too much effort in a photo than none at all |

I think the whole point of being of being a photographer is capturing the best image of a subject. Not using filters. Our images are all high quality where you can literally see goose bumps.. So no filters there as such.. All done with light and camera... And a bit of light room for slight corrections x |

I'm on the fence with this. I think they look great, I'd enjoy a professional shoot myself but there's something about amateur shots that is more 'real' somehow. I suppose for appreciation of the artistry and form a person's body I'd say I like professional but as an aid in deciding to meet, amateur |

I'm not a lover of photos that are very staged. I like the ones that look like they're no effort (I appreciate that they actually do take effort) they give me more of an idea who the person is about, or at least like to think it does |

I've been interested in photography for years, so I really like them.
That said, the more amateur style of pic can also be very alluring too.
Like so many things, I guess it's quite a subjective...but personally, no they wouldn't put me off at all. |

I think high quality is the term I was looking for but you can definitely tell what you were going for. I'm probably awful to to about this as well as I know nothing about what make good photography |

Define professional? If you mean something shot with deliberate use of lighting then no. |

When you say high quality did you mean in focus images? Something being sharp doesn’t makes it high quality, same as having a full frame camera and a portrait lens doesn’t make you a photographer. |

You get some great angles, and the lighting on some of your shots is fabulous...they don't put me off...they show you in a great light...and after all, you're trying to look as attractive as you can to other people.
What does put me off are ones with heavy phone filters on especially the silly childish ones...it makes it hard to see if it's someone I'd want to meet, so I don't bother looking at them any more...
What always does amuse me is the people claiming to be professional photographers and the shots on their profiles are shit...especially the ones offering to do pictures for others... |

There's been some great replies. Ultimately as long as you're happy then that's all that matters.
Personally I like your professional photos because they creat an atmosphere and mood.
My favourite photo though is of you climbing over the gate with your boobs out. It looks fun, innocent, naughty and spontaneous but mostly just lots of fun! |

I like yours OP but on the whole they do put me off. It's as if taking a decent picture in a natural setting is hard to do. Imagination is either overkill or they're romanticised peekaboo softcore types when, no, it's just a picture that needs good light, form, background and matter. |

I think you have some amazing photos OP.
I understand fully what you are saying because a certain level of photography is bordering on artistic. Is that right for fab? I’m not so sure but don’t let that stop you
As for using fabs to gauge, again I understand that. It’s like an appreciation rather than someone declaring lust.
While our photography is slowly coming along I realise more that majority don’t want something that they will have to pause in to fully take in the composition etc.
I could name some people who do appreciate such style of photos but I think they are all here already

Your photographs are totally fine, a compendium of artistic reportage and natural poses that should serve for you and your target audience perfectly well. Don't worry about the 'other' audience, or affirmation or approval.
Your images are tasteful and devoid of any crass or vulgarities. |

You've got some great pics and we certainly appreciate the extra effort and creativity when people show themselves off with good photos.
It's a far cry from a 'pants down and click' and Fabs don't matter if you're not just trying to appeal to guys after a bit of quick relief.
We get pleasure from taking pics too - it always turns into a sex fest!
If you portray you, you will find your kind.
It's a shame we're not closer

I’ve been doing photography since I got my first Polaroid age 4! I’ve done lots of shoots including people here but wouldn’t call any professional but definitely try to be authentic.
I’m fine with post processing & filters but what puts me off is pretentious shots that try to portray a fake persona clearly don’t capture the real individual , those awful boudoir groupon shots and the male equivalent of suits, shoes belts etc . It’s like iStock for dating profiles |

I don’t think location/ background is that important tbh. I can’t view images on fab so can’t comment on yours, but what’s important is expressions, viewpoints and light and the relationship between the subject and the camera. Something I learned was role playing - get the subject to imagine the camera as a friend, lover, enemy even, give the camera a name ! Go into the role play

I far prefer pics where a bit of thought has gone in to whether it’s a flattering angle etc.
Although it’s interesting to see the difference when they let a “bad” one through.
Turns out most of us are only human. |

I think your style of photography would be different to mine. I'd much rather photograph Louise on a world war two aeroplane for example, than every picture been taken on our bed. Location is very important in my photography. But that's my style i guess.
Lighting, styling, underwear...also very important, but I can't photograph Louise's face for fabs, we are about to have sex generally... So her expression is normally horny as fuck! |

Well done photos make a good impression. By that I mean some thought, framing, lighting and clarity.
If you've gone highly processed, over the top and used Insta filters to death, then that's off putting. There's a number of profiles on here I've hard noped out of because if their photos are insight into their attitudes, then I'm turned off.
But also putting in no effort is a mega turn off. If it's a selfie in a mirror, at least clean the mirror first! If your mirror isn't hygienic, I'm not going to think they are hygienic. |
